Well for 2 weeks I've been thinking about doing this mod, I've read this ENTIRE thread 4 times, every post....I just placed my order for all the parts. I changed a few part numbers saving a few bucks here and there. I called and scoured the internet and no one had gabriels. O'Reillys had Monroe in stock and was right around the corner from my house so if I had a warranty issue I could go right back. Picked the shocks up today and hopefully everything will be delivered by the end of the week. Thank you to everyone who has provided information regarding their order list and part numbers. I water tested shocks all day and they are currently holding at 110psi. I'll check them tomorrow. I also plan to weld the eyelids over the crappy spot weld on the shocks. Thanks again.

I pulled my set up off my bike and will be selling it. I had one shock that blew, on a trip (I think it was suspect when new). I've got a new set of Monroes, but will include the remaining good shock as well. Pictures and ad in classifieds, soon.

This happens to certain exhaust. Since you already have the dent, you're good to go. Some guys pre-dented their exhaust.

^^^^^what he said^^^^^ when I had my V&H ovals on the bike they would hit. I changed to a set of klockwerks rounds and they no hit. PS I didn't change them cuz they hit I just wanted a different look and sound

I dented under the shock mount based off info I read here but didn't think I would have to dent so far up by the swing arm. That area seems visible but then again my bags aren't on.

Try to loosen the mounting bolt on muffler to saddlebag brace and see if you can gain some clearance and tighten back up

I have gathered the parts to do this mod and will begin the install this weekend. this might be a stupid question, but where is the air inlet on the Viair 98c compressor? there is a solid plate below the cylinder. all compressors I have ever dealt with have had a pretty evident inlet with filter.

Thanks guys, the 98c is still a mystery. Viair site doesnt even list a filter for the 97/98series. i took front cover off, just crank case, no filter there. it does look like ther is an inlet valve on the bottom of the piston so it must pull intake air from this area. I have no idea how this works but many are using this compressor with good luck, so i'll leave well enough alone.

Does anybody who uses the monroes use a lowering block as well? I'm curious if the tire rubs when there's no air in the system. I had a set of 1" blocks on before I did the monroes so I already have a set to use but I'm concerned about rubbing in case there's a failure while riding.
