Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

I put air bags in my truck and had the same issue, make sure all the tubing is cut straight in the ptc connectors the can be finicky, also check that the schrader valves are fully closed, a five dollar tool at the auto parts store. It took me a few tries but I didn't lose a pound the whole winter, and with my rgu loaded in the back it doesn't lose any air either.

What five dollar tool? BTW...still chasing a VERY small leak...next 'll be taking the fairing back off tomorrow.... already checked everything else...Hoping that it's in there. I'm thinking it's the gauge bleeding down, but we'll see. Anyone had issue's with the viair gauges???? Any Ideas?

okay....lol, I'll give it some thought. Are you running a set of lowering blocks? Looks like it. I took mine off today. tire rub all the way down, on the one inch setting. Would hate to pop a a line and come to a screeching halt...lol...BTW: so everyone knows... I made a stupid move. I am using a handle bar switch, and didn't wire in a relay. Hence the leak and.....uhhhh, a smoking wire. Needless to say when I got home bought a relay and re wired the entire thing. Guess what??? No leaks now. I guess the dump, or the pump couldn't draw enough amperage to keep the valving closed all the way when I hit the switch... Now it is holding perfectly. Test ride tomorrow after work and who knows maybe a 2" pipe and a hammer too...lol. Thanks for everyones help and input...I do appreciate it...:D Four hours of sleep then off to work....4 in 24 is what my old DI used to say...just never knew when you were gonna get those 4...looks like now!

Don't know if you guys with leaks have done this but grab a spray bottle and fill it with some water and dish soap .. Air your system up ... Spray all fittings and watch the bubbles ... This saves a lot of pain and frustration of taking fairing on and off and saves a trip to confession for all the foul mouth things you say to that sexy ride :D

JJ, nice video. Take one from a side view if you can.

+1.

I don't think your video is crappy at all either JJ. You did a really good job showing how the system works. I would also appreciate a side view if you can get one somehow (arm/hand extension, a LONG extension?).

Ive been following this topic for awhile now and im contemplating doing this but i have to ask, has anybody ever just hooked up a compressor to the stock shocks before replacing them? Im kinda curious to see or feel the difference. Ok anyways, im sure this has been mentioned or asked before but what are the list of parts everyone is using to do this?

Finally got around to installing these air shocks and I was wondering if anyone else has concerns about the 2"x1/2" shock bolts that are OEM from the MoCo being too short. The Monroe shocks and bushing metal insert are much wider than the HD or Progressive 440's that I replaced. For peace of mind, I couldn't go with the 2"ers, I went and picked up 4 new 2 1/2" and larger diameter washers for both sides of each shock. Seems to hold the bushing better and not interfere with quick release mount on top of shock.

Anyone else have these concerns?

For those of you looking for a good weather proof toggle switch that has plenty of capacity so that you don't have to run a relay, I found one at West Marine..
It's a Cole Hersee rated at 25 amps for 12 volts. West marine Part number 143243. After a little drilling out a existing hole to 7/16 it fits nicely into the frame on right side under seat and in front of battery. I'll try and get a picture of the location. I didn't want to drill the side cover.

Here's a link.

Sounds greats.. Thx But I can come up there if need be.

I'm ordering the parts now.. Where do you get the compression fittings from? I got a parts list from another forum & it shows I need two pairs of compression fittings. Two 1/8 compression fitting and two 1/8 compression "t" fittings. or a set of push to lock fitting?

The parts I ordered so far:

VIAIR 92 Viair 92C 12 Volt Air Compressor Kit - VIAIR
Monroe MA785 Max-Air Air Shock Absorber
Energy Suspension 9.9105G 4-Bar Bushing
Viair 93940 40 Amp Air Compressor Relay for 12 Volt compressor
1/4" Electric Solenoid Valve 12-volt Air, Water

Sounds like all you need now is fittings and whatever switch you want to run. I like the cvo lock switch myself. Just have to order it from HD and wait is the only thing with that. I also have an airline cutter that cuts the ends straight for no leaks. I recommend the push to connect fittings from Airedup.com. Just make sure you know what you need.

It's 1/8 pipe coming out of the compressor. I kept everything 1/8. Read that you had 1/4 dump valve, no big deal, just get 1/4 pipe to 1/8 air line fitting for that.

The removable passenger backrest still works. The mount is on the fender/frame not the shock. If the bushing is not pressed in all the way, it may interfere with the backrest mount up. I added a flat washer on that side to hold the bushing out of the way.
