yea it looks great! But those cheap-azz, tin hinges just detract from your new look.

HD has the perfect marketing plan...its the "I just need one more thing" plan.

But the improved hinges "ARE" HD factory parts, they just match the latches now and appear to be much stronger;)

Does any one have the part number and picture for the upgraded hinges? I have never seen them. I have the same hinges on my Pak. I didn't think they looked all that bad, but I would like to see what else is out there.

How do you install the upgraded hinges, drill the old rivets?

here's a link to the hd website that has the hinges: hinges

yes you do have to drill out the old hinges... do not have an instruction sheet, and have not done this so can't tell you how involved it is. but, a lot of folks have done it and said it wasn't too bad.

I recently installed the upgraded hinges on my 2011 RGU. It is a simple task with common hand tools. From start to finish (working slowly on a new bike) the entire job takes about 30 minutes. I didn't drill out the rivets, I ground them off from the inside with a Dremel tool using a cut-off wheel instead of a stone. A really simple 1 man job with excellent results.
