Any going this year.? How long?
My brother will be there Friday late afternoon 5/10, heading out Wednesday for Nashville. Oh yeah, we are looking forward to our first visit. Coming from Colorado, I am looking forward to warmer albeit wetter weather!

On a related note, we saw there are floating casinos you can go out on for a few hours. Good/Bad?

I usually just go for one day to check out the vendors on the north end before heading south for refreshments.

Left work around 3pm and road about 350 miles to Hays Kansas. Surprised to ride through 40-degree temps with a thick wet fog for about 100 miles. Most upset as it made my straight and balding hair frizzy while checking into my motel (just kidding!). Day-2 may be a bit dicey, but will check into weather and travel options before heading out to Branson MO tomorrow morning.

As a side note, not planning to move to Hays anytime soon. Went to three gas stations just to find premium gas. Many non-functional pumps also. It seems there are too many gas stations and motels for the area so all appear to be doing poorly.

I would ride down when I lived in NC. At that time a big place to visit was Suck, Bang, Blow... big crowd, vendors and live bands. And... gotta hit Dick's Last Resort!

Day-2. Thunderstorms last night. Woke up to 40-degree temps and raining. My shirt, vest, coat with liner and rain coat kept me all warm and cozy. I listened to that damn weather channel on the sound box. What a boring repetitive broadcast. I did learn that there is a lot of flooding in Kansas. Lots of rain, hail and some tornadoes the last few days. 80 miles out of Branson MO it was over 80, so time to shed some clothing. Lots of dead critters on the road. Also, lots of evidence of recent heavy rains.

I was going to stay in Springfield tonight but opted for Branson MO since I have heard sound bytes about the area on TV and the internet. It is a beautiful area, with lots of hills. I walked around and felt like I was in San Francisco walking up and down Lombard St repetitively. Nice place, but too much touristy for my Colorado blood. Not my "go to kinda place".

Tomorrow, Tunica Mississippi to meet up with my brother (riding up from Florida). A classic night of brotherly gambling debauchery at the Hollywood Casino.

If I never set foot in Myrtle Beach again I will be OK with that.

Almost ended up picking peas for 30 days back in '83. >:) There was a guy in court that got 30 days for stealing a pack of bologna!

Then to add insult there was a hold on renewing my drivers license 15 years later because they said I still owed them money. How do you fight that when you know you don't but don't have any proof? You write the check and move on with your life. :serious:

Be very careful you are not at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong amount in your system.

Day-3, I had a glorious day riding through Missouri and Arkansas on two lane highway. Many miles of curvy roads through rural areas. I actually saw the sun for the first time on this ride today! Spending the night in Tunica MS and heading to Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in NC tomorrow night. Raining like shit right now and likely a wet ride out tomorrow morning. That said, "My worse day of riding is still better than my best day at work".

Lastly, I-40 and the reaking trucks "suck big time". I HATE I-40.

Day-3: First reasonable riding day to Tunica Mississippi. I didn't realize how beautiful much of Arkansas is. I road on two lane roads with curves and scenery! Landed at the Hollywood Casino to meet my brother. I was very disappointed with the area and casino. One or more casinos in the area are closed. Hollywood had few people there. Many maintenance issues with the casino. I learned that the area was devastated by a recent hurricane. Since then Memphis has opened a large casino, so no reason for many people in the Memphis metro area to make the trip to Tunica. I expect this casino area to fail.

Day-4: Thursday's ride really sucked "big time". We left Tunica MS in rain, only to ride into heavier and heavier rain for most of the day. We had trouble with visibility. My brothers goggles and my face mask were covered with water.

We rode Mississippi, into Alabama and then into Tennessee. From Tennessee we road into Georgia and then into North Carolina. We got soaked in each state! I think I may have ingested 3-gallons of water.

Traffic in Tennessee on the interstates was horrible. There was a lot of heavy traffic near the bigger cities with incredibly aggressive and reckless drivers cutting into and out of traffic. I truck pulling a trailer with logs cut me off by about two feet to spare. My brother thought I was going to be killed. The traffic was crazy!

We dried up enough to really enjoy the Cherohala Skyway! https://cherohala.com/ This is a truely beautiful ride. The temps did drop into the 40s with deep fog and the higher elevations.

We stayed at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge near Robbinsville NC. If you like a more rural stay in a cabin see: https://ironhorsenc.com/ . I recommend it.

Day-5: Oh yeah, oh yeah we are in Myrtle Beach! It was a relatively short day ride from the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge, maybe 400 miles. We road through some beautiful mountain country. The last 40-miles into Myrtle beach sucked, sucked sucked. Stop and go traffic the whole way. I do not know why. We had our first "rally beers" at "Suck Bang Blow" tonight. Let the festivities begin!

Does anyone know if there is a central vendor area, for example, where are, "Mustang Seats, Kuryakyn, J&P, Hot Leathers, companies performing Dyno-tunes, etc." Is there a central vendor area for this rally?

We stopped at the HD dealers in Surfside and North Myrtle beach. Nothing going on there. One dealer did say the rally doesn't really start until Monday.

We just found online some vendors are at "Barefoot Landing" towards North Myrtle Beach. We will check this out tomorrow.

Glad you made the trip safely.....

Must add, when Iam on the road, I usually ride out the heavy rain at the motel or delay leaving for hrs, just isn't worth it unless your on a time crunch (which I understand)
The traffic at rally's has been getting worse and the local economy relies on the revenue ....so watch the speed thru local areas

HAVE A GREAT TIME and SAFE TRIP HOME
