Hey Guys,

I would like to know if any of you have gone with a one caliper setup using the stock master cylinder and brembo left caliper on a 2010 fltrx. My dealer is telling me I may have an issue with over braking due to a master cylinder that is designed for two and not one caliper. Is this true? I would like to know what setups any of you have used with the stock parts and how it turned out!

Thanks in advance.

Brembos

In effect you are cutting your front braking capacity, which supplies the overwhelming majority of your total breaking power for aesthetics... it might look clean but to remove one of the two calipers is just plain foolish.

Hope you never have to bring 800 plus pounds of rolling iron to a quick stop.

I agree, it does look cool but I would never think of it.

No you should stick with two calipers and not worry about the looks IMO. Going to one caliper is just a bad idea even if you get a better caliper/mc you are still decreasing the amount of pad to rotor contact and reducing your overall braking. You are not talking about a 500lb custom chopper that will never see more than 1000 miles in a year you are talking about a cruiser designed for 20 times that much.

If you absolutely have to do it go with another caliper, MC rotor combo that will give you increased pad to rotor contact over stock.

Ok ...so here is my read on that I’ve had a number of Harley baggers and the weight of the bike has not really changed in years (the weight of the rider has )LOL, but I digress .The earlier baggers I had in the early and late 90's had 2 piston duals in the front on each rotor (and they were crappier breaks but worked fine.
The current production as we all know is 4 piston Brembo and they are great ( unless of coarse they squeak but that’s a whole other story) The long and the short of it (IMHO) is that you would be ok.
You are messing with brakes but if you call a couple of the guys that are selling wheels for this type of application they can tell you what parts you need to cap off the one side Correctly
The other bit of info is that some guys go to a 6 puck set up when they do this as well

In a nutshell it is doable But I do agree with HUTMO if it aint broke .....and I will say this as well ,we ride hard and fast out here in the west and I would not want to be second guessing my self when Bambi starts to show up
In this case more is better

In regards to the single disc dilema on my 2010 fltrx.....

I have heard the same thing at the local shops out here in Montreal. I have already ordered the 11 inch disc, So i am stuck with that and cant jump to 13 inch. I guess I will just order a second disc from coastal. Don already told me he would stock the single disc hub and ship me a dual disc hub. I will ride the bike with the dual setup for this summer and switch to single over the winter. Thanks for all of your input, you have helped me make a wise decision.:)

I C'ant sleep!!!!I just Can't do it!

I have imagined what my bike would look lke a million times over in my head and the entire time the right side of that gordious 21 inch judge wheel was entirely exposed. I have therefore changed my mind....I will bite the bullet with the 11 inch disc, and go ahead and order a 13 inch rotor anyways with a 6 piston pm caliper and master cylinder. If I don't I know i will regret it! So stay tuned....I will post some nice pictures as soon as it all comes together.

Thanks again everyone!
