OK I just replaced my 2009 RG windshield with the 8 inch KW shield. Looks cool as hell, but I'm gettin blasted going down the road. I also did the J&M 7.25 speaker upgrade. I could actually hear my stock speakers with the stock shield going down the road, but with the KW shield I am having a hard time hearing the J&M speakers. My stock shield measured 16 inches from top to bottom of the frame. I am looking for a shield that will still retain that hot rod look, but actually let me hear my speakers better. Like I said I can hear the J&M's but not like I could with the stock shield, just didn't like the look of the stock shield. I am 6 ft. tall and have the stock seat on the bike. The CEE BAILY site calls for a 14 inch SERG, for my size but I'm not sure what to get. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat, and realizing that there is a trade off with any windshield. I'm running the short klock right now, but have a 16 in coming monday. I am 6'4, and I will let you know how it goes.

Make sure your settled on your choice of seat, and bars, lowers, and whether or not you ride with a backrest, before you start with the windshields, (or you'll never stop with the windshields). Also helps to know your height, and inseam as everyone's bodies are different.

I had the exact same result as you with the 8" KW, it put the wind and noise right into my face. Looks cool but not functional (for me). I ended up compromising with a standard height Clearview (12.5" from top of the ledge above the tach / speedo housing). Functional, but looks, but hey, I ride with a tour pak, and lowers on so obviously, function is more important than form to me (most of the time).

I can still remove the tour pak, the lowers, and put on the cool looking low windshield for taking pictures or cruising, but I'd rather ride long days lik eyesterday 480 mile cuuise around Wisconsin.

My Findings So Far

OK I removed the K/W 8 incher and put the stock shield back on, man its like night and day, I can hear the speakers at less than half volumn and the wind is not tearing my face off. I took a cruise today and even at 70+ I could hear the speakers with no problem. I have some Yaffe monkey bars on order and I think I'm gonna wait until they are installed before I make any more shield changes, as far as the seat goes right now I am satisfied, but may change it out in the long run. Still I like the looks of the 14 inch wind vest in gunsmoke, but will probablly hold off for right now. Thanks for all the replies and help.

I also ran into the same thing on my 2010, I have the 8" KW and a bad lander seat. so far i found that the best windshield has been the $35.00 HD sunglasses! I agree that the KW looks awesome but may have to change it for the ride from NH to DC for Rolling thunder.

I have the 12'' Klockwerks shield and stock seat. I really like this set up. I would guess that I still get about 30% of wind, and I can hear my stereo at highway speed (stock speakers). So overall I am very happy with it. By the way, I am 6'2 not sure of inseam. Hope this helps

I have the 12 KW, is great for around town but not the highway or long trips. I tried the Kuryakyn Airmaster Touring last fall and did not like it. Blocks alot of the wind but I found myself looking around the edge of it in corners. I just bought a 16" CB SERG form a forum member, waiting to get it to try. I am 5'10", 32" inseam.
