I've never lost one doing it this way, and I have TRIED to push one through with no luck. Doing it the traditional way I have pushed them through really easily. I sat down once and tried to write these instructions out,.. but it was easier to just wait until I had a camera and record it.

At the end of the video, I quickly describe how to fish out a wellnut without removing the fairing. Just incase I didn't explain well enough and you somehow managed to still drop one inside.

Oh, and this is my first instructional video, so take it easy on me would ya! The wind was playing havoc with me, and its hard to film and do stuff by yourself. Next video will be better I promise. Enough excuses, I just hope this helps people out.

wellnut video

That is what I figured out too Chainsaw. BUT... when you were tightening that screw with one hand I was holding my breath. I always keep the second hand by the tip when tightening screws around paint.

Thanks for the video...

that is all great but the retrevial will only work on the '10 model earlier models you have to remove the fairing to service the headlights no way to get them out from the front.

Well sonofabitch! I knew the well nut trick, but I didn't know it was that easy to pop off the headlight bezel. Thanks for posting.

PS: Very informative, but your last video was more entertaining. :) Any news on the sequel?

Please guide this novice to video (link or address). Sounds like a must see for all of us who hate this windshield mounting system. Thanks

Thank you, nice instruction. Did the old well nuts look that perfect when removing shield or did you use new well nuts.thanks
Original wellnuts, never had anything else. I've had the windshield(s) off at least 30 times,.. maybe even more then that. I change out my shield depending on how far I plan on cruising on any given day.
