Harley has come out with some good colors, but nothing that really grabs me. I’d like to see a vivid black one with some thin pin striping, just enough to offset the black. Still couldn’t afford to buy one at today’s prices, but I’d like to see one lol.

I think there's some truth to the notion of CVO owners being a bit constrained by the idea of spending more money into their bikes (mods) while possibly harming its later value. On the other hand, for many CVO owners the bike is undoubtedly perfect as purchased and never needs a mod...or at least few. That's not a good fit for me.

I much prefer the path of selecting a majority of the hardware, paint, engine work, nuances and comfort/ergonomic things that make a bike 'custom' to the owner. It's my CVO-Plus in reality. To 'buy & ride' is quite nice for many, but that's leaving a lot of knowledge and enjoyment on the table for me. I've said it before in regards to the 120th RGL CVO: I'd rather be riding my #1 of 1, versus 1 of 1500. I suspect a lot of riders who put countless hours of sweat, effort and thoughtful dollars into their bikes would say they feel the same way.

And for the record, I have felt lust for several CVOs....but for me lust is often fleeting and unsustainable.

Absolutely agree some CVO owners will modify their bikes because that is what float their boat…the differentiator, the research and knowledge experience, etc… while others like myself like the idea of buy and ride.

I personally tried the modified approach, not with the CVO but with a road glide special and a road glide limited. During that time I was always chasing for the grip changes, the cam, the seats, the speakers and amps, etc…it was fun but eventually I got tired.

For me, I found the value of just buy and ride..AND absolutely respect the other thinking of customization…

I do find interesting when I see people talking against CVOs because I was one of them, and wanted to justify my choices…I am sure not all think the way I did, but I am also sure many do….til I found the enlightenment

^ I agree with Kev's viewpoint here. CVO's just aren't for everyone as some people would prefer to have their bike built they exact way they vision, versus a catalogue order. Some people want to retain resale value, others - like myself - keep their bikes for many years and just keep tweaking it however we wish; whereas the stigma of a CVO seems to fall on 'don't change anything or it will lose its value' - like 'only adding a windscreen' for example. F that. Paint and powdercoat can get you anything you want nowadays.
Sure, if want more paint and powder coat of course….

For me, the value is on getting the bike out of the sale floor, dropping in the windshield and not having to stop for weeks for other upgrades, or worrying about doing this or that would loose the warranty …

I am not the - I have a unique paint, or the exhaust sound, or the extra power (which many times means the bike is at the mechanic for work), etc… Today I am in for the convenience….buy and ride.

Nothing wrong with either side, both sides are riders

Mine was especially difficult to make different. A blacked out Roadglide. Ya. That’s different. Lol. But when you walk up on it. You see right away. It’s not just another blacked out Roadglide. A lot of time was spent on the little details that set it apart. Some are common yes. But in the end. There’s really none like it. I had a guy with the same year bike park next to me and ask his wife why mine looks so much better. He said they’re the same. Why is his so much better looking. I pointed out. It’s the little things. Bolts. All mine are black.
Like I said. That dealer questioned my sanity when he seen my bike. The gas tank, and fairing is stock. As are the wheels. That’s it. I wouldn’t do that to a CVO.

I get that notion of 'buy and ride' and there are many motorcycle riders that are exactly that way, for sure. Especially someone just coming into Harley - their eyes are bulging when they see what 'gets done after the sale' for most riders to get them comfortable or where they want it to be.

As mentioned by yourself, Kev, myself, and others - there are just a lot of Harley riders that would rather save the money from a moniker and take that money and build exactly what we want and still have money in the tank to ride that mofo where ever we wish to point.

So I guees it isn't a CVO only stigma, per sae, it is more of a 'grab and go' versus 'let's modify this biatch' perspective; though the CVO brings with it a heavy price tag to make that decision easy for many. This same ying/yang perspective is prevalent in the whole auto industry, though. Nothing new, just a different brand/format.

Thank you. Maybe therein lies the clue to understanding your perspective. It might be worth considering that lots of others are not justifying (or defending) their decisions....but simply explaining them in logical fashion.

Considering the most I've ever spent on a new cage is under $30k, they obviously aren't marketing this bike to me.
You're not alone. You know they over priced when cousin Eddie gets his panties waded up over the price 😁

Saturday went to my local dealer and your looking at $59,500. That amount does not include tax, title, licensing, registration fees, destination charge and dealer prep. They know thats a lot of cabbage, hell they still have a 2022 CVO on the floor almost 6 grand less, but someone will buy them. They think they will end up with two. They are going to let me know when the Road Glide 3 comes in so I can take it out for ride and see what I think so I'm looking forward to that.
I'm loving my 2020 more and more each day :)

I've noticed the anniversary years on the whole fleet rely on paint and badging to sell bikes. The following years(s) seem release major updates to engine, chassis and creature comforts to maintain sales.

Kinda looks like the paint from the low rider ST El Diablo , that one is a kings randsom as well. The prices are goin up faster than out paychecks not a good combination for the MoCo.

We are surrounded by them as most are part of a larger group and if one gets away with it (and they will) then many more will follow suit
@08Zinc traveled to my dealership. If I had to I'd travel too. They only get away with it because people allow it by paying the price.

100% Big Fella.......I know the allure of a CVO......it can truly expedite that "Gotta Have It Now" feeling..........and the REEEAL dumb ones sell it and then buy the same damn color (4) years later......what Morons
