The stock shield on my 2015 RGS looks bad ass but is not very effective. When I removed it, all four mounting points had spider cracks radiating from the slot. This is due to a ham fisted installer at the factory and I plan to do a warranty claim for a new one.

To replace it I went with a Freedom shield due to info I have learned here. I am 5'9" with a 31" inseam. I measured carefully and did the cardboard trick as suggested on FS's site. In addition, I held a laser pointer on top of a level at the same height as my nose sitting on the bike to determine the exact top edge height. For me, it came out to 11.5 ". I chose the 11" medium grey shield. After mounting it and riding for about 10 miles, I decided I had made the correct choice and removed the protective plastic. The shield came shipped in a big box with about 10,000 packing peanuts. It is well made, fit exactly, and is made MUCH better and 30% thicker than the stock 8" shield.
I can actually hear my radio now and wind noise is way down. The windstream goes just over my head.
I am very happy with this purchase. BTW, the new medium grey tint looks really good on my black bike. I will post some pics later.

I also have a medium gray Freedom shield. Mine is 13" and works wonderfully. It is about an inch shorter than the stock shield ('15 FLTRUSE) so I am comfortably looking over it, as I like. It is a quality shield. The packaging was top notch. And their policy of trying it, with the plastic intact, is quite a nice touch.
I knew after one short ride that it was a keeper.

I'm about 6'1" and went with the 11" FS Dark Grey on my 2015 RG. I started with the 12" but realized that with the recurve I could get away with the next size smaller. The 11" looks great on the bike and wind protection is more than adequate and so much better than the sexy stocker.

John at FS is top notch and the shields appear to hold their value pretty well.

Highly recommend FS if you want a decent looking shield that is highly functional.

I did a warranty claim on the original 8" shield, Harley honored it and sent me a new one. It is still in the box in my attic, where it will remain until I sell the bike.

Just got my 18" Medium Tint Freedom Shield Friday and took it out for my first 50 mile test ride today and I'm quite impressed so far. I'll be hitting the highway with it tomorrow on a 45 min trip to the dealer to round out the testing. I might be able to go with a shorter size due to the flaring, and hopefully tomorrow's ride will help me determine that. I'm 6ft 8 with a 34"inseam

Medium grey installed on my '16 RGU. So much happier with my ride with this shield installed. Much less wind in my face and can hear better at highway speeds. I'm 6'1" with 34" inseam. Talked with John and he recommended a 16" shield. He was great to talk with. Members of this forum can enter rg.org at check for a discount. Just not sure what to do with my stock shield....
