Hey all, great little forum, right on the topic I need!

I am not an owner, yet, but will be before this summer. The wife and I are doing some serious window shopping.. to the point that she is getting tired of me going 'OH OH OH.. look at this one.. we could do that to ours!'

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, and the Roadie is my my welcome home present. I have been trying to find all the 'options' I want on it, and have several questions. I have gone through most of the forum already, but would like a little feedback on a few more things.

I love the idea of nice shiny rims, preferably black, but if the wife say chrome, Im getting chrome  What is the biggest size that I am able to slap on her without having to do extensive mods? I don't think I need to go much bigger than a 21", if that is possible. I have seen the customs with the 30" rims, but I really don't need that. I just want a little noticable difference between the front and rear tire. Along with the size, who offers a nice custom rim at a reasonable price? I have not seen prices on much besides sturgis wheels.

I also like the idea of 'apes'. I have seen several of them, but all the pictures that contain descriptions are not viewable by me. I think our security settings here in afghanistan prevents them from showing up. All I see is a little 'paper looking icon'. I don't need ideas of the bars, just places I can look to compare different sets of handlebars.

The last change I think we are going to make is going to be the bags. I like the look of the bags that go the bottom of the pipes and wrap over them. I have not seen many places to get a good idea of cost and options. I know that I don't want to just add extenders, I can always use the extra room.

If you have pictures of examples of what I am asking, please send them to [email protected] with a short description of what I am looking at. I am eagerly trying to get everything I want before I leave here - a week or two after I get back from Afghanistan is my trip to Sturgis!

Thanks for any help you guys give me. Great forum, and hope it sticks around!

1st, THANKS for what you do! Stay safe!

I saw somewhere on here where a 21" can burn the fender paint when you hit a bump and the tire comes up and hits the inside of the fender so be careful there. Can't remember the exact rim size for sure so you might want to search the site.

Also have seen some have gone with the Yaffie bars which look cool.

Good luck with the mods.

Thanks!

Thanks for the emails everyone. I have spent weeks looking for resources, and with the input from a few of the members my shopping list filled quick, and with stuff I actually 'want' (translated into 'man needs'.)

Well, there is a possible compromise on the wheels. You can get both the black rim plus the chrome. In the photo of mine you'll see my two piece wheels. That's a 21 on the front, 18 on the back. I know that Colorado Custom and Rampage both offer the two piece. They're not the cheapest out there, but I've seen worse.

Take care over there and hope to see ya at Sturgis.

Oh, my return!

We are slotted to be home... sometime between jun and sep. I'll just say that right now our trip to sturgis in '11 has 47 Soldiers, 0 wives, and 2 dogs signed up for it. Now that 0 wives thing will change right about day three we are home.. but it's great to talk S&it while were here :D.

Ill definitely keep everyone posted on what our plan is, should be a good line of bike and camo from colorado springs to sturgis next year.
