I am awaiting delivery on a 2015 RG with the Arctic Flash paint set and matching chopped tour pack. My question is, is there anyone that makes a back rest similar to the king pack with the wrap around side bolsters. Long story short is my wife sat on the RG CVO and loved how comfortable it was. I opted to buy a standard that had a crap load of accessories on it plus ordered the matching tour pack. Now I'm worried that she is not going to be happy riding back there with me. And before you all go off on me for caring about her riding with me, it is VERY important to me that she is comfortable AND enjoys riding with me. If they offered the king pack in the arctic flash paint I would have went that route but they don't or atlas the 2 dealers that I spoke to said they didn't offer it.

Thanks for the help guys.

Welcome to the forum, sorry I can't answer your question except to say there are plenty of places that could have color matched the king tour pack.

My girl LOVES the chopped tourpac! Let her try it before you start worrying about it. Much easier to get on the bike as well. Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the forum.

Thanks DBell,
I first saw this paint set back in sept/oct and said that I wanted one. I just didn't want to spend $8K on a paint kit. I was lucky enough to find a used one for a very fair price. Looking forward to having it soon.

You used to be able to custom order any MOCO part in any color they get picky on CVO colors had to prove I owned my '05 before they would agree to sending a king tour pack. I see no reason you couldn't order the king tour pack back rest and mount it on the chopped one it just will sit lower. I put the big tour pack for the same reason you are, chrome wont get you home but a happy wife can get you laid.....

The lids for the king and chopped are the same size. The only difference is the holes that are pre drilled to accept the appropriate backrest pad. There should be no reason that you couldn't drill the hole pattern for the wrap around pad from HD. The one thing you would have to do to the pad is have an upholstery shop shorten the bottom of the pad. This is just another option to throw out there. I bought the 2014&up style King TP and I use a chopped pad on it. You are just doing the opposite. Hope this helps!

Here's a chopped tour pack with the wrap around ultra backrest. I picked it up for cheap at a swap meet. You don't need an upholsterer to rework it. The lower pad is easily removed. Just have to over come the anxiety of drilling holes in a perfectly good lid.

Hope this helps.

This is true on the older style but not with the newer style. The newer ones are one piece and not the 2 piece with the stapled on pad at the bottom. It would be nice if the older style pads fit the new TP's but from what I've read they don't. Here is a pic of a newer style King pad. Automotive design Vehicle Car Couch Furniture

Thanks for the replies Guys,
I went ahead and ordered the matching mustang chopped back rest pad with the diamond stitching. I'm hoping that that wife likes it but if not I can always try the ultra rest and just drill the holes. I would not have thought that it would have been that easy.
Thanks,
Pete

I missed this post when I asked about the older styles. I was just curious if anyone has actually checked? Sometimes HD says you need the newer version for a new bike but sometimes the old ones will still work with a little modding.

I have found a 2014 wrap around on eBay they has a blemish I could fix but was didn't know how much the bottom portion needs to be adjusted to make it fit a chopped tour pak.

It would depend on your seat as to how much it would need to be modded. I would say it would cost the same to take off 3" as it would 1".

I just went and looked at the one I have sitting on the shelf in the garage and I would say it would be a mod that most could do themselves. Just remove the staples holding the vinyl in the back, pull the vinyl cover off the bottom part that needs to be trimmed, trim the plastic to length and trim the pad, pull the cover back over the bottom part, pull the excess tight and re-staple. If you didn't feel comfortable doing this it couldn't cost much at all to have it done. I'll post a pic of the back so you can see what I'm talking about.

Here is my bike with a chopped pak and wrap around backrest. I spend probably 2 1/2 hours measuring, making a template, remeasuring, making a second template, comparing all everything before I finally mustered the courage to drill holes a brand new lid. But everything worked perfect. I picked the backrest up on ebay cheap because it had a broken bracket. I got a replacement bracket from the dealer for $9. I think that's the cheapest part I've ever got from HD. There was no need to adjust the bottom of the backrest. I have the Hammock seat and it fit really snug but I think works great and would definitely work with a stock seat.

I really like the looks of that. Do you by chance have the MoCo part number of the rest? I am running a low down touring mustang seat with the large passenger pillion. I may want to compare the dimensions and see what I can make fit.
Thanks
