This has happen about three times in the last month. Rideing along and suddenly no throttle and check engine light goes on. Pull over the bike is still running . Turn it off reset the ignition switch starts and runs fine again. Any ideas?

This happened to me yesterday. Leaving parking lot and get to street and went to take off and no throttle. Check engine light on. Parked bike turned everything off then turned bike back on and everything worked. Did you ever find out why this is happening Bacanater?

I was working at A Harley dealer when TBW came out and they had serious issues with this exact problem,they were facing lawsuits from PD's that were using them,I believe it was an issue with ecm,also some thing to do with the engine idle management where you turn off the rear cylinder by rolling the throttle back.Research it this is a major safety issue,please get it fixed asap!

Pull the codes, write them down, then clear them. After that clean and grease the connector at the throttle body. Ride it and see if the codes come back. An issue at the connector can set a lot of false codes. But it can be almost any part of the system acting up on a scooter that old.

On an 08 the first place to look is the connector at the throttle body. The pins are subject to corroding. There is a new PN for the pins in the connector. But it's not a cheap repair, unless you already have the tool to crimp them with.

Short term, try cleaning them and reconnecting it with some dielectric grease on them.

I had this problem a couple of times on my 10, I did what Thermodyne mentioned, took the ECM plug off and sprayed contact cleaner then used dielectric grease, I haven't had the problem happen again in over 3 years now. I guess that was the fix for me.

There are some stickies in the troubleshooting section that you should read on this subject. Basically the problem is the TCA plug in the back of the throttle body, pull the plug and put dielectric grease on it and it should help. The real fix is to put 2011 TCA pins in the plug, the 2011 pins are silver coated and they provide a better connection.

I had this problem on my 08 RK, and I've had a couple buddies with the same problem. Replacing the throttle twist grip sensor in the handlebars will fix the issue. I think it is about a $100 part, but kind of a pain pulling the wires through the bars.
