I'm planning a trip to four corner this summer and was going by way of Utah and heading down into northern Arizona and saw on the map that the north rim of the grand canyon is close. My ? is, is the road paved out to end? Never been and would like to see if that close. Thanks for the info guys.

Cape Royal road past the North Rim visitor center is also paved. This takes you to more overviews of the North Rim.

If you stay in Kanab, I'd suggest the Parry Lodge http://parrylodge.com/index.html.
They have a free old time western movie each night in the barn like building at the motel. They also have a great $6 breakfast buffet.
If you go through Page, check these out.

The neatest motel we stayed at was the Lees Ferry Lodge near Marble Canyon (not too far from North Rim).

It had a lot of character and a huge beer menu. Not much around there, but that is the best part. It has been a very long time since I saw so many stars and the Milky Way so clear. We stayed in one of the rooms on the front with the large patio area (Rooms 1 thru 6, I think).

Southern Utah and northern Arizona was a great place. If you want more info on it, I have a ride plan and agenda from our trip if you want it. PM me your email address.

Plan to travel into az and go through Sedona via Oak Creek Canyon. I just rode 89 from Prescott to Wickenberg. Best road in the state IMO.

Work in Monument Valley while you're out that way. You'll be glad you did! And if you also can work in a ride through Moab (Arches NP) on your way to 4 Corners, I cannot recommend Utah HWY 128 highly enough. It's runs north/ south off of I-70 at Cisco, in eastern Utah, down to Moab. One of my top 5 American Roads. I've not ridden in south to north, but N2S it's amazing. You'll want to do it again.

As long as your into Utah, take a hop up to Zions and Bryce Canyons if time permits.

don't do what I did....

I went to 4 corners earlier this month. Stuck in a two hour traffic jam between Phoenix and Sedona, got caught in one hell of a wind storm Between Tuba City and 4 corners. My air filter was packed with red sand. Took it into the bathroom at a gas station and cleaned it out in the toilet. Get to 4 corners at 5:35 PM, and it is C L O S E D. Closes at 5 PM. Who knew?
