19-day motorcycle ride, a little bit of catch-up at work, then a 30th-anniversary celebration, so not much time to edit video. But I finally got this one done.

It's really long, so you'll want to skim through it, but I just didn't want to edit any more. Watching is like re-living the ride, and I like good things to last.

Hell's Canyon itself is a great ride - long sweepers and great scenery. The Devil's Tail is a little more technical, and is great fun at speed if you catch it without traffic.

There's a big loop to be ridden in this area, but part of the loop is under construction and I didn't want to ride the 30-mile gravel road detour. So we went 22 miles in to the dam, then turned around and came out. Even more fun the second time when we knew what to expect.

The ride on Idaho 71 is very nice, too - but I cut most of it because of the length of the video.

If you ride this area, plan your gas stops. The one option we found was replacing pumps. We almost ran out... like coasting down hills in neutral toward the end of the ride to save fuel. Made it, though!

If you like videos - enjoy!

I wondered about the Rally while riding to the dam. Are riders on that road going both ways? Man, if they are, I would be worried about some crazy crossing the center line. That would get my attention in a hurry!!

Yes they do. Thankfully it was almost deserted when we road out there. We were pushing hard and using the whole road at times. It was an exciting ride. For some reason or another during the rally, it was rumored the road was closed.

I was at the rally as well and didn't have too many centerline crossers on the Devils Tail. We did ride the loop with the gravel. The road sign said up to 60 minute waits, but they were not working on the Friday we rode the loop. The gravel was actually a dozen or so patches along the route with none of them being longer than 1/2 mile. Still had to watch the gravel surfing though. It was worth it in my opinion.

If you ever make it back up, ride the loop out of North Powder along Anthony Lakes/Forrest Road 73. One of the best I've ever riden.

I rode Hell's Canyon loop from Baker City up to where you exit to get to US 12 in Washington. It was back in 2008. I remember comparing it to The Dragon in NC, you know the 318 curves in 11 miles. HC went on for over 100 and had countless curves, very little traffic, snow capped mountains and I swear I didnt see as much as a cigarette butt on the side of the road. To this day I consider that to have been the best day of riding I've ever had. Can't vwait tindo it again.

I did this last year on my CA, OR, WA, ID, MT run. It was a great trip. Unfortunately this year I have been unable to take as much time off at a time so my longest trip has only been 5 days or so. I'd do the exact same trip again in a heartbeat. Stop on the side of the canyon and swim in the river to cool off as it gets hot out there.
