Just sprung for the HD oil cooler; its due here tomorrow and I am planning to install this weekend. Any tips or issues I should be aware of? Anything missing from the directions?
Man, I like your style. I will work on my bike a little, but otherwise, that is why I go to work-to pay someone else to work on it. I also feel that I am doing my part to keep that economy growing. It is my patriotic duty to sit there and eat those donuts why the techs wrench on my scoot!I can tell you how mine is going to be installed .................... by my dealer while I sit in the HOG lounge and scarf up donuts and swill coffee on Saturday while I oogle the hotties in the motor clothes section.![]()
I did my part by buying the thing, I just don't like the fact that the dealer wants $160 (2 hrs labor) to do a 1 hour job! I believe they call that "doinkin' you in the a$$!"Man, I like your style. Thanks for the heads up! That's not a tool I currently have.Nothing tricky about the install. You will need to have a 7/16" allen socket to install the adaptor to the oil filter housing. I did not have one so a double nutted a 7/16" bolt and installed it that way to torgue it down also used a long extention so I could swing the torgue wrench. Doc
Yep, saw it. I think there is a similar write up in Hot Bike Bagger from a month or two ago. I will probably do this one myself, but I also understand the part about just paying to get some things done. Unfortunately, right now I don't hardly have the time to do it myself OR sit at the stealership to have it done. Way too busy at work.Check out the Sept. Issue of American Bagger. Page 46. Good read while your drinkn coffee,... getting ready to install your oil cooler,...and doing your Patriotic duty! Remember no job is complete till the Paperwork is DONE! lol
Main reason is two fold. First and fore most is that I had both knees operated on this past spring. That I can still ride on two wheels is a blessing. Second, the bike is still under factory warranty and as the oil cooler is H-D branded rather than aftermarket, by having my dealer do the install, the whole thing is covered by the moco.Man, I like your style. That's how I did mine. I do have the wrench now though.Nothing tricky about the install. You will need to have a 7/16" allen socket to install the adaptor to the oil filter housing.
