Just sprung for the HD oil cooler; its due here tomorrow and I am planning to install this weekend. Any tips or issues I should be aware of? Anything missing from the directions?

Nothing tricky about the install. You will need to have a 7/16" allen socket to install the adaptor to the oil filter housing. I did not have one so a double nutted a 7/16" bolt and installed it that way to torgue it down also used a long extention so I could swing the torgue wrench. Doc

Man, I like your style. I will work on my bike a little, but otherwise, that is why I go to work-to pay someone else to work on it. I also feel that I am doing my part to keep that economy growing. It is my patriotic duty to sit there and eat those donuts why the techs wrench on my scoot! :) Not to imply that those that do more wrenching on their own bikes are not patriotic-to each their own mind you.

I did my part by buying the thing, I just don't like the fact that the dealer wants $160 (2 hrs labor) to do a 1 hour job! I believe they call that "doinkin' you in the a$$!"

Thanks for the heads up! That's not a tool I currently have.

Yep, saw it. I think there is a similar write up in Hot Bike Bagger from a month or two ago. I will probably do this one myself, but I also understand the part about just paying to get some things done. Unfortunately, right now I don't hardly have the time to do it myself OR sit at the stealership to have it done. Way too busy at work.
I didn't want to offend anyone with that "patriotic" label. I expect everyone on this forum is patriotic, man I don't even want to get that discussion started!

The whole rerouting of the regulator wire harness thing in the instructions was unnecessary. Ignore that. And remove the speed sensor and put it out of the way. It'll make oil filter reinstallation easier.

Thanks for the tip, but I think the 09+ must have a different set-up as their is no mention of moving wiring harness in the instructions. Install is going to have to wait awhile anyhow. I was just going to go with the cooler and not the chrome cover, but after looking at it I will be taking the cover to my powdercoater. So maybe next weekend.

Main reason is two fold. First and fore most is that I had both knees operated on this past spring. That I can still ride on two wheels is a blessing. Second, the bike is still under factory warranty and as the oil cooler is H-D branded rather than aftermarket, by having my dealer do the install, the whole thing is covered by the moco. :D

That's how I did mine. I do have the wrench now though.
