Can anyone tell me what the proper oil pressure at idle should be.
The manual states 30-36 psi at rpm but nothing for idle.
Thanks

I have a 06 and it seems to me that its pretty low at idle
maybe 10 or so I have never paid to much attention to it.
I did notice that after I put the Scotts oil filter on it changed
a little bit like it was a little lower at idle.

My '98 EVO runs 5-10 PSI hot. It's not much.

I've noticed that the oil pressure gauges are pretty much worthless on the baggers. They are electronic, and between all the sending units and other crap seem to be off most of the time. When I get enough money, I'll replace the oil pressure gauge in the dash with an air pressure gauge for the air ride suspension, and put an oil fed pressure gauge and mount it to the heads.

Just my 2 cents.

they told me at the dealership that the oil pressure is rpm driven.. so when it idles the rpm drops way down.. I think they told me this because new harley owners like me tend to freak out and call them while pulled over on the side of the road.. ;)

The only measurement my dealer evaluates is on a completely warmed up bike, 2,000 rpms, load or no, it doesn't matter, pressure should be at 32-36. That is almost exactly what I see on my bike, and on most others too, so there must be something to it.
