PA/Mid-Atlantic Meet&Greet 5/20 - Coming?

Well, this bites. Chance of rain is now 100% and highs only in the 50s. This is not ideal riding conditions for those coming long distances from NY, NJ, MA, etc. Let alone for riders closer to Frederick. Current forecast for 10 days out shows Saturday the 20th shows sunny with highs of 86*. I know some people already have conflicts with the 20th and the following weekend is Memorial Day weekend. So, who can still meet on the 20th?

Original Info:

It's time to make the plans and cement them into your calendars. The PA Meet and Greet, expanded for all of us non-PA types that like to ride out of state for lunch, has been planned and confirmed. Details are as follows:

The final date is 20 May due to rain this weekend. Meet at Harley-Davidson of Frederick between 11:00 and 12:00. At 12:30, we'll depart for a short ride for lunch. Lunch will be served by the beautiful ladies of the Tilted Kilt in Frederick. Afterwards, a couple of the ladies will be available for posing on your scoot. And, for the women, there will be a guy or two available in kilts for posing with the women. (Equal opportunity here!!)

If there is time and desire, I have a short ride through the countryside afterwards. Those with longer rides may not be able, but for any closer riders, Road Glides are about riding and Frederick offers some great back roads.

I spoke to Tilted Kilt's Manager Paul and HD of Frederick's Jeff Shadoan. Both look forward to our visiting.

Well damn, that's 2 regulars to the event that can't make the 20th and a Marylander. June is rough for me as I am hosting a GlideFest event and still have rides to plan for it. So, June 3rd would be the only rain date to the 20th that I could possibly do.

GlideFest

What is your GlideFest??
Long ago, in a strange land where Harleys had only one headlight and the world was thought to be flat, there was an online forum called the Electra Glide Garage. Like the Shark Tank that we know and love, it had annual meetings called GlideFest East and GlideFest West - one for each coast so that all could attend. The West Coasters were not so good at hosting the event and it quickly faded into non-existence and GlideFest East, which thrived, became GlideFest. It started in 2005 and continues today although the forum was killed off about 5 years ago. The regular attendees from TX to Canada, eh? usually numbered about 15 or so. However, the regulars are aging and have given up riding or unable to ride long distances any longer and this may be the last year for it.

Fred Porter has hosted the vast majority of these, save for the 3 or 4 that I hosted/am hosting and one hosted in Ohio by a guy named Phil. Over the past few years, we have opened it back up to try to get people interested in continuing our wonderful yearly meets, but we have had no takers that are willing to commit and host. I haven't mentioned anything here about it as I didn't want to take away from the much larger Shark Week. I am hoping that a few of the GlideFest regulars will meet in July for Shark Week, like me and RK Dan that are now over here.

Well, the 20th (so far!!) looks to be great riding weather. Sunny with temps in the 80s. No more wimpy excuses from you with playing house wife or Jeff attending a wedding? Really? C'mon @Freaky, this is way better than a wedding.

Funny thing is I agree with you, I would rather be at this M&G, however, it's family and I had already committed prior to, hence I was hoping that this weekend would have worked out.

I'm disappointed. We had thought that the suit of armor at Bill's Old Bike Barn was more his style, but turns out it's a maid outfit. Oh the horror!!! >:)

I won't be able to make it next weekend. But maybe if it's another weekend I could. Have fun who ever makes it. See you all at SW
