Hey everyone. I'm still new here, and I don't have any pics of my bike yet. But I wanted to post some info on a product I just purchased. First of all, the product: http://www.hogskinspaintprotection.com/

I didn't see anything here (good or bad) about this company. I haven't put a mile on my new bike yet, but I am extremely worried about rock chips on my new denim paint (thanks Michigan roads!).

I talked to Terry at Hogskins, I assume he is the proprietor. Very nice guy, very well informed. He says he used to use 3M's product but they recently switched to Suntech? (can't remember for sure).

Anyway, Suntech is owned by the guy who sold his original product to 3M. Terry said the new protection from Suntech is better than the 3M stuff. He did warn me that the edges of the film are slightly visible on denim paint, but nearly invisible on gloss paint.

Once I get it installed I will post some pictures. I guess I would rather look at the edges of the film than nasty rock chips from $h177y Michigan roads.

Interested in this product

Interested in this product as well, please let me know your experience and pictures after installation. I was debating on ordering the kit from Harley, but am interested in other manufacturers.

Thanks, and good luck!

Picked up the bike today. I'll get pics up tomorrow but I am extremely impressed with this product. I had the dealer install it, and I am a little disappointed in about 3 places where they didn't apply it well. BUT, where it's applied correctly it is nearly invisible. Highly recommend from an aesthetics point of view. Time will tell on how well it protects.

Also waiting to see your results and thoughts. Did he tell you anything about sun fading of their product?

Very happy with this product. The only disappointments I have are the few places the dealer did a poor job applying the film. Where it's been applied properly, it's nearly invisible.

Terry told me that their product has ZERO uv protection so sun fade shouldn't be an issue. Time will tell I guess.

Overall, I am extremely happy. The HD dealer did a poor job on the fairing, so I have a few edges that are noticeable. But, it gives me an opportunity to pull it off and try putting a new one on myself...testing how easy it is to replace in the future.

I'm seriously considering doing this to my bike also. Keep me updated if you have anymore findings or opinions.

Thank You

I saw in the parts book that this product or a similar product will not work on denim paint. Something to do with it not being able to adhere. Is this correct? It looks like you have a denim black bike. Got mustang covers on my saddle bag lids but would be interested in doing this to the fairing.

Works on denim paint

Yes, mine is denim. Hogskins has a kit for denim paint. Not only am I happy with the product, the owner is a pleasure to work with. He describes his operation as 'still a mom and pop shop' and it shows. When you call the number on the website you go directly to the owner of the operation. I had some mixups with my order, and some of my product was applied poorly by the HD dealer. Terry made sure that I am a completely satisfied customer.

Regarding the denim paint, I told him he way undersold it to me. I was worried that it was going to be highly visible and that turned out not to be the case at all.

I am ordering this for my bike. Is there any issues with your application since you have had it on for a year?

Interesting...I already have chips and such, so wondering how it will do over top of those blemishes. Also not sure it is worth doing at this point for me now or not...

Carefully touch it up then apply the film. The chips will only get worse when unprotected.

True. Especially with the amount of wind sand and rocks that get blown around here:serious:

I've had the HogSkins on our '15 CVO since last fall, I highly recommend it. Watch the videos a couple times before
attempting the install. Don't be afraid to use too much water, don't be afraid to use your fingers if needed to get the edges stuck down.
There's a couple trick spots, but for the most part it goes on quite easily. Start with the bags, which are easier than the fairing IMO.

I got my hogskin film applied and overall I did a great job! I only missed one small area where I got a bubble and wouldn't ya know it, it's on the top side piece of the fairing. Not very noticeable though.
