I took the lowers off of my 03 before I sold it and had them painted locally to match my 2009's Black Pearl. While I was at it, I decided to have him shoot my bezel. Here's the bike with it on.

So what do you think? It's only like $15 for another black one. Should I leave it painted, or go get a replacement black one? Dont worry about hurting my feelings, honest feedback appreciated...

I say each owner has his own unique mods they like, keep it... it makes it different from the rest plus you did it... anyone can buy an aftermarket piece.
I love being different and having something I created, keep it up and LEAVE it, it works:)

FLTRI, it looks good!!! I did the same thing on mine when I had the dash AND inside the lowers painted...it really looks better than basic black when the bike is black pearl.

The chrome one would look ok on my bike too....if it came in BLACK;)

Looks good in a dark color. I considered painting Hester's when I did the inner fairing. I think in your case, matching colors work. In my case I think the contrast of black on red was necessary.

I say keep it.

Thanks for the input, Guys. When I first snapped it in, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I rolled it out in the sun this morning, and it's growing on me...

Sounds like great minds think alike. I have a painted inner fairing as well. I took a slightly different route and had the insides of the lowers Rhino-Lined...

There are four tabs that hold in in place, two on top, and two underneath. I have a plastic detail tool I use to release the upper tabs, pull it forward and rotate down, and the bottom two slide out.

Others have used a thin screwdriver or putty knife with tape or a tee shirt to protect the paint.

As cheap as the bezel is, you could rattle can it about any color. If it comes out bad, it's cheap enough to buy a new one. I'd say have at it!

I'm with Scott on this one. Yours looks good. I paint matched mine (scarlet red) and after a month I still dont like it. But I had to give it a try to know. Vote keep yours...think I'm goin back to black.
