Took the bike into the dealer for maintenance yesterday. After leaving I noticed my left blinker was on. I pressed once. Still on. Pressed a second time and it turned off. I figured they may have accidentally got water in the switch when they were detailing the bike.

Then 2 miles down the road. Left blinker on again. Same thing. Took two presses to turn off.

This continued all the way to work and last night on my way home after a meeting. Erratic in that it will remain off for many miles then turn on again repeatedly through a few cycles.

I found the following:

  • It not takes two presses to turn the left blinker on
  • It takes two presses to turn the left blinker OFF
  • I can still turn the left blinker off by turning on the right blinker.
  • It does NOT appear the left blinker will turn off with distance nor tip
  • Right blinker works like normal.
What do you guys think? I'll be calling the dealer at 10 am to talk to them, but would like some thoughts or suggestions before then. Would an over zealous detailer get enough water in the switch to cause this? Any logic tied to the blinkers?

Problem resolved. White/purple wire in left control was pinched causing intermittent ground.

Glad it wasn't a component failure. All fixed and resolved.
