I have a PC installed on my 2010 Road Glide, which was installed by a local shop. After installation I have had problems with the Tach not moving past 5,000 RPM. When the bike is on the Dyno it revs to 6,200 RPM as it is suppose to, per the shop it is the Tach that is the problem. As the bike is under warranty, I went to my local HD dealer and they state that it revs to 6,200 RPM when the PC is unplugged. I have put in a tech support request with Dyno Jet (PC), but am curious if anyone else has had this issue or knows what the fix is. The dealer charged me $80 to take a look. I just really don't want to go back and forth from the dealer to the shop over my tach. Do I need the tach, no, but I like it to work...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

sorry you wasted your $80. this is a pretty well documented thing with the pc. most folks just figure that they don't ride in the 5k range anyway and just ignore it.

here's someone's email from dynojet about this:

Due to this bike having fly-by-wire, the tachometer only showing 5000rpm is a byproduct of enabling the rev Xtend function of the Power Commander. This is simply how we had to do it to include this feature. When we developed the Power Commander for the 08 model we felt having rev Xtend was an important feature to include in the unit. When we realized that the tachometer would only show 5000rpm we almost decided to not include this feature at all. But we thought it made more sense to include the feature so the end user would not have to waste $150-200 at the dealer to get an ECM upgrade that did nothing but increase the RPM.

With the Rev Xtend enabled your bike will truly go to 6200rpm but the tachometer will only show 5000. If you disable the Rev Xtend then the bike and the tachometer will go to 5600rpm.

And unless my dealer is not telling me something right, you can get a "download for the bike" that increases the rev limiter.
so basically, you could get a download from the dealer, but for the $150 or so all it would really give you is the ability for your tach to read above 5k

Thanks for the help...when I bought the bike new, I had an exhaust and aircleaner installed at the dealer...about six months later I had the PC installed as I changed to a different exhaust, cams and had the bike Dyno'd...I am a little surprised the shop did not know this, but not everyone has a tach on their bike...and not everyone looks at their tach...I guess its a leftover curse from riding sport/metric bikes prior to owning a HD...LOL...so I have been in the habbit of installing tachs on all my HD's and the RG comes with one. I plan on going to the shop and having them change as recommended. I know the stage was installed for pipes and aircleaner so I should be set...

Again thanks!!!!
