I like the look of the fat tire on 16" rim.

If I find the front wheel set up off of 2007 FLHX, would it bolt right on to my 15RG??

I see a lising on Craigslist locally, I can pick up a 16"Wheel (07 FLHX) with tires, bearings, spacers AND axle.

Or should I keep looking for 08&up take offs??

I bought a 17" rim & tire off a 2014 road King and put on the front of my 15 rg. I am not sure about the 07 - I would be concerned about the ABS.

I think you will find it rides smoother too. I paid 180 for rim and tire on ebay ...

It will work but you will need the correct bearings to fit the new model axle size. I think they changed in 08.
+1. In 08 HD went to a 25mm axle on the 08 and later models so a 08 wheel would be a direct fit, any wheel before 08 would require mods to make it work.
Call Joe at Willy Shinys he may trade a 2013 wheel for a 2008 wheel.

Check if the Bearings OD are equal, if so replace bearings matching your year axel shaft. One small details is the spacers also changed after 2009 with the new frame design make sure the wheel hub width are equal, if so use your year spacers. New bikes spacers L to R are equal while older bikes not.
Good luck

The O.D. is the same. My son did this same mod.

I ended up finding a 9 spoke wagon wheel off of a 08, which had the correct size bearings in them (for my 15 RG).

It was a direct swap, no mods, no nothing, just taking off the stocke wheel and put on the wagon wheel.

I love how it looks and rides now better than stock.
