Here is my question going thru everything I that crosses my mind for service. How long usually before you replace the factory primary chain tensioner, I know the plastic shoes wear out just can't find any info on when the MoCo recommends a replacement, I have 54k on my 2011 FLTRX , and I ride it normally, I don't beat the shit out of my bikes FYI. I checked my cam chain tensioner and they were in excellent shape , just so e info. Any ideas guys?

The shoe will always look decent on the primary tensioner, it wears even. Look at how high it is ratcheting up to enable proper chain tension. If that is within specs, then it is fine. I replaced mine around the same mileage as yours, it was near the end of the limit and I was rebuilding the tranny and clutch, so I just freshened it all up at once.

Okay I haven't opened it up since the 15k mark so I guess I will be grabbing one and a a primary cover gasket and replacing this , because if the shoe worn it's time.

I hear from some techs this can last 80k , when I did my primary service chain has the normal slack looked at it with a screwdriver thru the derby cover , definitely would like to hear more on this maybe I could get more opinions before I open this thing up.
