After researching options for several weeks I decided on Pro Action for my '17 Road Glide Special front forks. Several posts on this forum (05 Nightrain and others) helped. The installation was straightforward and required basic skills. Tools that were recommended such as seal driver and air gap tool were not a must have. Air gap can be measured with a long flat head screwdriver marked @ 120mm (based on my weight). Seal driver was a 3 foot long 2 inch diameter pcv pipe split down about 6 inches and a hose clamp to pull the diameter down (49mm fork tube=1.97inch). I was concerned with the 20 weight oil specified by Pro Action but with their spring, spacer and redesigned dampener rod it works. Cutting the spacer concerned me but a video showing the spacer in a vice with the edge of the clamp as a guide keeping the cut straight made it a non issue. For my weight (215) the spacer was cut to level with top of tube. That made screwing the top cap back on not such a big deal.
I am super happy with the results from the money spent (spring kit about $350). The ride comfort is greatly improved and the response in curves is amazing resulting in a lot more confidence in both the bike and myself. Just a note the rear shocks are Super Shox 14 inch w/lowering block.
For anyone looking I ran across a post on this forum today by Cosmic Razorback dated around April this year that contains a great deal of information that included actual usage comparison on several brands.
Hope someone looking my find something useful in making their decision.
