Progressive 412s. Opinions?

I honestly know nothing about these. I have Super Shox and love them, Ohlins are very popular also. See if someone chimes in on these. The only thing more important than good shocks is a great seat. Whatever you do don't cheap out on suspension. Look around, and spend the money. All that being said, anything is an improvement over stock.

I don’t know about the progressive 412. I had a set of progressives on my sportster they were good but not great and no improvement over stock. On the RG I put Ohlins 771 rear & Ohlins 102 front. Great improvement worth the cost. If looking to upgrade from the stock air preload adjust, anything would be an improvement.

I remember a progressive video on YouTube some years ago presenting their shocks and stating that the 412, their entry model, was close to the HD ones in terms of performance.
Basically they are good in terms of price but not in terms of performance if that you are in search for.
Personally I installed a set of progressive heavy duty 490 sport series in my ‘16 RGU and I’m very happy about the performance for the price I paid (in the around of 600$ if I remember fine...)

If someone is GIVING you a set of them, then yeah, put them on. But otherwise, they wouldn't be enough of an improvement over stock to warrant the expense. Step up to their 944's or higher, or look into one of the other high quality shock options (Ohlins, Supershox, Pro Action, Legend, etc). Suspension is one of the areas where you have to spend a little bit of money to get bigger improvements. Most quality shocks are in the $700-1000 range for the rears.

I have the 412 on my Dyna and I like them. I would not put them on a Road Glide. With that being said I put 944's on the Road Glide and I have been very disappointed. I should have saved a little longer and went with another brand. Live and learn. Haha

I have a set on my 93 flhs. Didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a bike I don't ride much. I would give them an OK but probably would spend a little more on the bike I ride all the time.​

I put a pair of what I recall were progressive 412 HDs on a 2001 Kawasaki Voyager XII with blown OEM air shocks. Coupled with the Racetech springs and Gold Valve Cartridge emulators up front they transformed that motorcycle.

That was 12 years ago. If I were to ride that bike today would I think the same thing? Can't answer that.

Now, I have had Racetech front ends in 3 bikes now and all there were great improvements over the stock suspension on those bikes.
