I'm swapping out my stock cam in my '09 RG to an Andrews 48H. I'm wondering if I need to switch out my pushrods to adjustable or not. I've done cam work in the past, and used the old "bolt cutter" routine, so I'm not worried about that or cost. Just wondering if I crack the rocker boxes and pull the old ones out, if it's ok to reuse them or not..

If you don't remove them out the top by removing rocker boxes, then yeah you'd need new adjustable pushrods. Not that you have to change the lifters, you'd be wise to upgrade to a better lifter while in there. Otherwise you can just leave them in when swapping the cam and pushrods. Just need a couple of wire clips from those big paper clips.

Great.. Yes, I've done a couple of swaps with adjustable pushrods.. Just don't know if it's worth the cost for a few minutes of pulling the rocker boxes... The reason I'm leaning that way is that the tank is already off while I"m running wiring, or it'd be a moot point! I'd totally cut and replace...

Thanks however on the lifter suggestion.. I read in another thread about lifters.. I'll have to check and see.. If the other price was correct.. $80 for a set, it seems stupid not to swap them at the same time!

About as quick to pull the rocker boxes and rocker arms. Yes, stock rods work on a 48 and if you haven't changed out the inner cam bearings, do it now with torrington and put new lifters in too. Many happy miles after that.

As long as the base circle on the cam your installing is the same as the stock cam you can use the OE pushrods. I've found I can get less noise with adjustable, unless the lobes on the cam are very steep.

IMO the adjustables PR are a must. It just makes future cam chest work or lifter R&R a lot easier. Also you can put the correct load on the lifters when you use adjustable PR. If the cam lift is more than the stock cam is then the lifters can be overloaded which can cause problems.
