Just curious if anyone is running a 2 channel amp for the front speakers and running their rear speakers off of the stock or aftermarket head unit??? Still planning my audio upgrades and just don't know if it is worth it to get a 4 channel amp to power the rears when I don't really hear them that much anyway. Wife can hear them good now stock so it should be better with aftermarket speakers and the extra juice of an aftermarket head unit.

Thoughts???

I have Hogtunes 4 channel. When I bought my bike I asked for the RGU package and they mistakingly put in the new 2 channel higher output unit. I did not like it at all. The rear speakers sounded terrible without the amp. They swapped it out for me at no charge and I could not be happier. IMHO the 4 channel is better. Good Luck!!

new radio will be much cleaner for sure v. stock, because it will have better EQ rear speakers should cut better, speaker lids might help when you decide to get the amp. could run four in back
Not really interested in adding more speakers to the rear. If anything maybe lowers somewhere down the line. So you think it wouldn't be bad running a decent set of rear pod speakers off a Sony h/u and the fronts on an amp???

My debate is getting the Hog Tunes 4ch set-up which is 40w x4 or just the 70w x2 for pushing the front.

I'm running a PBR 300x4 with Hertz in the front and Polks in the rear, I can tell a huge difference. May not hear the rears all the time but as soon as I turn my head a little they are there....Plus, I'm getting ready to add to the lowers with a pair of HW ZX 6.5's and the CS300.

I'm running a HW RS400 to 4 speakers on the front channels, and still running the TP speakers in stock configuration. Haven't had any problems.

I do plan to upgrade next winter though. Gonna go with another 4 ch amp to the TP and the saddlebags.

Radio is what's going to make the difference for you even with stock speakers. Problem is aftermarket radios are almost never 2 ohm stable in that setup so you'd have to change speakers as well.

Put 4 decent speakers in there, put a decent 4-channel amp on them, then take off down the road and fade all the way to the front and tell me it doesn't make a difference. It does, even at highway speeds. Stock sucks so I see where you're coming from in thinking it doesn't.

I'm running the Hawg Wired DCS 2 speaker amp/speaker system on my front speakers. But on my Tour Pak is just the stock speakers. I have the detachable kit on my Tour Pak and only use it when on trips. So the front speakers are the ones I use most of the time. When I have the Tour Pak on the bike with a Passenger, we mostly use the head sets. When the rear speakers are on, they are mostly used as back ground support.

Oh I plan on replacing the rear speakers. They do suck. I just figure the majority of the sound will be heard at the front so no need to spend the extra money for an amp. I'm thinking a decent set of 4ohm speakers in the rears powered off the Sony head unit will be plenty for as much difference that they make at cruise speeds. May consider adding an additional amp down the line for some lower speakers.

But after having three Street Glides in the past with nothing but front speakers and my wife telling me that she heard the fronts on those better than she hears the rears on bikes I have had with four speakers at any speed tells me something. Spend the money where it be best utilized. More power in the front.

most definitely correct. What's in your face is what you want to pay attention to first whether it be simply fairing speakers or lowers too. Then you worry about the rears.
