I have to replace my HD Radio Sound unit. The good 'ole cassette player is going belly-up. This is a '01 CVO with the CD-player in the Tour Pack but that one is also haywire. So I have to get a replacement ASAP.

Now, before I'm going to fiddle I need some pointers regarding the wiring. The 23 pin-connector and aerial is easy to spot but I'm not sure about the connectors on the left side of the head-unit and the connector between the 23 pin and aerial (yellow circles) - anyone?

I appreciate your time and effort!
Cheers

I also have an 01 and replaced the radio , I did not have the tourpack CD and also did not have those connectors that you are questioning , I can not say for sure that those connectors go to the CD player but since my radio did not have them it seems logical

Thanks Eagle; I found a HD RadioSound wire diagram on the net, but those connectors were labeled: FOR ULTRA/CVO ONLY...
Yeah, right - that sure helps! :)

They are both for the "rear stereo" the first connection pictured is the wiring harness that plugs into the tourpak and the second is the optional hand control adapter for the cd player in the tourpak.

When ours were built there was not an ultra option but many added the tourpacks and used parts available for the Electra Glide ultra to modify the sharks mine also has a matching tourpack and it now has rear speakers and an updated radio with CD , if you look around you can use a radio sound from an 04-06 and it is plug and play I have also read that the newer HK units work but have not checked into that

Thanks trghd1550, I was only guessing but now it's confirmed! :)

@ Eagle – thanks man. I'll check if I can find a used RS or HK for a reasonable price. I have been told here in this forum that the HK unit should work, but the local MOCO-dealer says otherwise...
In the end I might go for a Jensen or an Aquatic as they are supposed to be plug&play. But I have to replace the old Hogtunes in the process..hmm decisions, more decisions! :)

one other option is to have your stock radio repaired , RadioSound - About Us they have a refurbish program if you want to keep it stock and since the cd changer is from them they may be able to repair it also .
Yeah, I just checked their site. It's nice to see a company that offer service for "vintage" products!
