OK, I need a radar detector(s). I don't have a lot of money to spend so here is the issue. Do I get 1 good one and share it between the wife and I, or do I get two lesser models and cover both vehicles?

I know nothing about these other than I want them.

Also, how well will one work in the glove box? I have no problem velcroing it above the stereo, cause as the wife found out, there is no such thing as a warning (forgot about our local speed trap). But my issue there is water.

I went with the Cobra iradar s120r. Built in blue tooth with laser and an iphone interface. Finding a spot to mount it on my FLTRU was a challange since theres not much room under the fairing with fork clearance and the front brake lines. So I went inside the lower fairing as I removed the vent doors for increased cooling and noise reduction.
System works great and iradar communicates with a wider community of users.

A fixed mount inside fiberglass or plastic will work fine as long as its field of view is not obstructed. I know plenty of guys who have put busters inside tuperware.
There are plenty of mounts that you could bolt to your bars and still look good which would be easily accessible to remove quickly etc. Much like gps'. Just run your wires clean.

My old ST's, I had Passports mounted to a fabricated dash next to ZUMO to keep it 'clean looking'. I used that plastic mushroom thick ass velcro. When it rained I used a ziplock bag to enclose the detector, and still was able to snap the 'velcro' together. That was plenty with the shield protection aiding. Remote Led mounted to my helmet to go off in my peripheral inside the full face just before i got my tickets….
My brotherinlaw has his mounted to an old bar mount I have him.

Plenty of options for extra alert as well, just in case you had not thought about it. screamers (not chicks) LED's…

Do some shopping. Look at other forums and get some ideas before you start to cut and paste. or not.

The Gent above runs it through his phone…. Nice set up.

I am slow now-a-day. the 8500i is sitting in the garage.

Just slinging some things out there.

I ride/drive about 5mph over the limit, get there just as fast, then take the money that I would've spent on a radar detector and buy something else for my bike.

Another option too.

I'm currently enrolled in that plan, minus the Volusianator gifting feature. I can't afford that shit after all those tickets.
