Attention Admins, first I want to thank those of you who decided that my deleted thread should be restored as it clearly was not intended to start a malstrom of nasty responses. I didn't create/write anything shown in that original post, it was an email I received the day I posted it. I knew it had the potential to be controversial which is why I told everyone in the post title, and twice more in the first paragraph that it was written from a conservative values point of view and was simply an informational piece for those who wanted to read it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I thought that since Progressive is very aggressively marketing to motorcycle owners, that riders here would want to know about what kind of company they were dealing with so they coud make their own decisions as to whether this company is one that they want to do business with or not.

As the OP, I'm now requesting that this thread be locked as I had no idea we had so many members on here who have no tolerance for any opinion or viewpoint other than their own. If the situation had been reversed and the title warned that it was a liberal viewpoint thread, I sure I would have read the post out of curiosity but then realizing I had been warned of it's veiwpoint before I ever opened the thread, and twice more in the first paragraph, I would have just moved on to another thread without commenting. But apparently some folks just can't understand that whole concept, and have no regards for the first ammendment. If an idea goes against their beliefs or values, they want to obliterate the post and the poster. So in order to prevent any further heartache to the admins or members, and to try to preserve some sense of decorum here, I'd like it immediately locked. Thank you again.

ORIGINAL THREAD:

Not trying to start any political BS here, hence the warning. But I find that most people don't know what Progressive Insurance really stands for and who's behind it. If you have a conservative mindset, read on. If not, you probably want to ignore this.

PROGRESSIVE AUTO INSURANCE
You know their TV commercials, the ones featuring the ditsy actress all dressed in white. What you might not know is that the Chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the major funders of leftist causes in America..

Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what's left of Americas Judeo-Christian heritage.

Lewis also gave $12.5 million to MoveOn.org http://moveon.org/ and America Coming Together, two key propaganda arms of the socialist left.

His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the America-hating socialist who is the chief financier of the Obama political machine.

Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism, but now finances a progressive movement that threatens to destroy the American free enterprise system that is targeting television shows on Fox News. Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans (who buy his auto insurance) that he then applies to dismantle the very system that made him wealthy. He's banking on no one finding out who he is, so STOP buying Progressive Insurance and pass this information on to all your friends. Chairman Lewis’ gift helps the ACLU promote their anti-Christmas agenda such as:

§ Removing nativity scenes from public property

§ Banning songs such as Silent Night from schools

§ Refusing to allow students to write about the Christian aspect of Christmas in school projects

§ Renaming Christmas break Winter break

§ Refusing to allow a city sponsored Christmas parade to be called a Christmas parade

§ Not allowing a Christmas tree in a public school

§ Renaming a Christmas tree displayed on public property a Holiday tree In addition to their war on Christmas, the ACLU uses gifts like that from Chairman Lewis to:

§ Sue states to force them to legalize homosexual marriage

§ Force libraries to remove porn filters from their computers

§ Sue the Boy Scouts to force them to accept homosexuals as scout leaders

§ Help legalize child pornography

§ Legalize live sex acts in bars in Oregon

§ Protect the North American Man Boy Love Association whose motto is "sex by eight or it is too late"

§ Censor student led prayer at graduation

§ Remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance

§ Remove "In God We Trust" on our currency

Verify at:http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/peterlewis.asp

or: http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/aclu-lewis.htm

All of a sudden I don't care for their "funny commercials".

I have Allstate and Progressive couldn't match the rates so it wouldn't make a difference to me anyway, but I still like watching the commercials. Has anybody told Flo?

I pay $369 a year for FULL COVERAGE insurance........ for TWO

If the coverage is comparable that would be a good deal. For many it all comes down to the dollar.

For others, there is a concern as to who and what it is that they are supporting by patronizing a certain company. This was never more evident than the Chick-Filet situation a few years back. The company took a position that many supported and many others did not. The fiasco that ensued opened the eyes of many.

Visitors to this thread can do their own homework and make their own decisions.

A truly informed people are a wise people. As Hutmo stated you must do your own homework. And ask yourself I'm I looking for a good deal or am I truly concerned with where my money is spent. There are businesses I will not deal with solely based on certain facts, point in case Target stores, if you want to know why repurchase it. But ask yourself one very important question. If I found out that the Harley I ride is having parts made by a country that disposes mine and is using my money to build a force to overtake the land I love; then will I sell my bike and never buy another? Guess what they are and we are. But don't take my word, look for yourself. Just my 2 cents.

Ron, as the OP , I have no idea what you're so all fired up about. Between the thread title and the first paragraph, I warned everyone three times that it was posted from a conservative point of view. Even suggesting that if you viewpoint wasn't from a conservative angle that you shoudl probably ignore the thread. But instead of doing that, you insist on trying to stir the hornets nest here. I will not engage you in an argument about the content of the thread itself. I just can't understand why you're so insistent on making a big fuss over a person's viewpoint. I respect yours, why can't you do the same?

Progressive thread

Postings were deleted because they were off topic.

This thread was unlocked I conferred with the other admins and we agreed as a team that it should not have been locked.

Those who know me know that I do my job and do not play games here.

At this point I'm wondering why this entire thread has not been deleted???

I don't think on a forum with members from nearly every conceivable walk of life, opinion, religion, political affiliation etc, there should ever be such a single sided/pointed post as the OP put up. There's just no reason for it here.

Really?? We'd rather ban/suspend/edit the people making the opposing argument rather than simply deleting a thread that shouldn't be here in the first place??

I realize that religion and politics cannot be strictly forbidden, but when things get heated and accusations start flying the situation needs to be taken control of, and not selectively.

Informative for me, still don't understand the issue, don't like it or agree, then do not read or get involved.

This is really old news guys and has been around since the beginning of the forum. Nothing really new.

As for deletions,if everyone would read the forum rules, there would be no discussion regarding admins deleting postings.

Simple put we can delete anything we want. Get used to it :)
