Im lookin for a good bolt on rear end lowering kit for my 09. I want to go 1 to 1 1/2 inches. Ive seen a few anywhere from $100.00 to $130.00 just lookin for some input from guys who have them, what works best and what doesnt work. and the best brand.

I used 1" lowering blocks from pingel. Had them on now for about 29k miles without any issues at all. Its a love hate thing regarding lowering blocks. Everyone says you sacrifice the ride quality cuz it changes the angle of the shock. The angle does change but i dont think its enough to make a noticable ride difference. Like i said ive had them on my bike for several miles and i couldnt tell any difference.

I had a set from TJ products on my 01 dont know if they are still in buisness,but they were top quailty,made from SS

You should have 13" shocks on your 09. You could buy a used set of 2010 up RX shocks which are 12". I used White Brothers lowering blocks on the older frames and 13 " shocks with out problems . I'm flat footed on the newer frame with 12" shocks.

You are correct i have 13" shocks but at the time i didnt want to spend a few hundred bucks to lower it for looks. The blocks were under a hundred. Now im considering lowering it even more but im going with the DIY shocks and compressor when its down for the winter.

Good idea.. I've done the Monroe DIY mod and love it. Drop it down when I'm stopped.. and jack it up when I'm riding.. I think the ride is much better when jacked up, especially at very slow speeds. Front end doesn't seem to dive into tight turns, like when you doing a U turn in a parking lot. Much more maneuverable I think. And looks killer when dropped all the way down (9"). My .02...

A forum member started a thread not to long ago that showed his broken swingarm and he had lowering blocks on the bike and he suspected that the lowering blocks contributed to the broken swingarm. I would just look into getting the 12 inch shocks you should be able to get a set of 12 inch HD shocks from a RG custom or Street Glide pretty cheap because many people want to upgrade to a better shock then the HD shock. I suggest that you save your money on the lowering blocks and put in some extra money and upgrade the rear shocks with a good 12 inch aftermarket shock. Progressive Suspension makes a shock that will lower your bike 1 inch but still has the same travel as a 13 inch shock, that way you lower the bike but keep or improve the ride quality. I think the shock is the Progressive Suspension 940 or 944 series.

+1 on the pingles with the dyi your gonna have to run a lower profile tire cause if you lose air (god forbid) you will bottom out and rub a dub dub!

Not to hijack this thread but when i do the DIY shocks i didnt plan on continuing the use of the lowering blocks. Didnt think i would be necessary
