I have ordered the rear fender facia for my '09 Roadglide. I have 2 questions:

1-Is there a plug on the wiring harness that I can plug it in and if so, where is it? (I was thinking that, just maybe, the wiring harness for the roadglide and street glide were the same and all I have to do is find the plug.)

2-Do I have to take the tire off to install the piece?

Thanks in advance,
gzr

The plug where the wiring harness attaches is under the left side cover.

You do not have to take your wheel off to install the facia at least not on a 2010 you can take the whole fender off without taking the wheel off

Ok...the rear fender facia is installed. It looks sweet. The only thing I'm missing is the corrrect plug to power it up (more on that later). The installation was easier than I thought it might be. That is if you don't mind drilling 3 holes in each side of your rear fender . For some reason, drilling into a perfectly good fender (or any other part) makes me just a little nervous.

Harley 75, thanks for the advice about plug location and the fact that I don't have to remove the fender. Your info. was spot on. The plug is under the left side cover. The only problem is that the plug didn't match the jumper wire that powers the light. It seems that the wiring harness for the '09 Street Glide and the Ultra is the same. The '09 Roadglide harness, however, is different. The jumper wire (HD part # 68828-10) has a 6 pin plug. The plug on my bike under the side cover is a 3 pin plug. I looked extensively under both side covers and the seat and couldn't find a plug to match the jumper. After about an hour and half of fruitless research with the parts dept. and service dept. at the dealer, I decided to order a 3 pin plug and wire it into to jumper. I could have just hard-wired it in either under the side cover or at the tail light but I opted to have a plug. I talked with another RG owner who had to do the same thing with his '09. The facia light has an inlet and outlet plug. I'm not sure what the outlet is for. I filled it with silicone to keep the dirt and moisture out. I plugged the jumper into the inlet side of the facia light and cut the 6 pin plug off the other end, stripped the wires back and stuck them into the 3 pin plug to prove the light. It worked fine. It is a run/stop light. I'm just waiting on the 3 pin plug to complete the installation.

Joke, I will post some pics once I get it powered up. Here is a breakdown of cost per part:
1-Rear Fender Facia (59739-09CYS) $97.99 (Part # will vary by color)
1-Tribar Fender Tip Light (67774-10) $129.99
1-Jumper, RR Lighting (68828-10) $27.99
2-Stud Plate Assy (59818-09) $9.99 X 2 = $19.98
6-Flange Nuts (7499) $1.99 X 6 = $11.94
2-Torx Screws (2995) $1.99 X 2 = $3.98 (These attach the light to the facia)
1-Grommet, Rear Fender (59778-06) $1.99
1-Plug, Rear Fender (59749-06) $1.99
Total: $295.85 + tax

Tourglide, see my comments above about a power source. As I said above, it can be hard-wired into the tail light but I don't think there is a plug there. I never took my tail light apart to look for one though, so I'm not positive on that.

Thanks again for the help and comments,

gzrglide09-I have the same setup, but have not figured out which wires to plug into the three plug receptacle under the left-side cover. 1) Which wires did you use?

2) Did you order the the three-pin plug from HD?

Thanks,

I peeled back to cover of the 3 plug wire under the side cover and matched up the colors.

I got the dealership to order the 3 pin plug for me.

I was away a while. If I remember correctly there is a open recepticle inside the tail light housing where the fender tip light on the bikes so outfitted plugs in. take off the lens and look in there. Might save you some time. It is where the harness from the front plugs into the tail light.

GZR, did you ever take any photos of your completed Facia? I would like to see how it turned out.

Great gzr - just need to find a Mirage Orange one. Thanks.
If you find one, let me know. I have looked, and I think we are in the same situation as the lower fairings. Harley never made a bike with that part in that color, so you cannot order one. If you want one in Mirage Orange, I think the only option is to order a primered one and have it painted. That is why I ordered Vivid Black Lowers, did not want to have to buy the paint, which could get way more expensive than the part being painted.

Just an example, on the paint. I have a friend with an '06 Cobalt Blue FLTR, who wanted to paint his inner fairing. The paint could only be ordered in quarts (only needed around half a pint), and cost $260.00 for just the paint (plus labor). I did my inner fairing in Vivid Black, which the guy who painted it keeps around (popular color), so I only had to pay for what I used and the labor.

If you ordered the light for a 09 streetglide its simply plug and play. If its the new style light that acts as a brakelight you will have to splice wires to make it work. I sid this mod to my 09 wjen i bought the bike. Besides waiting to have the fascia painted the job took about 1/2hr to do. Mask off the fender, hold the fascia in place, have someone mark the hole locations, PLACE A PIECE OF WOOD BETWEEN TIRE AND FENDER, drill holes, remobe the masking tape, bolt light into fascia and install onto fender. Run wire along the fender strut and connect under left side cover.

I put the Rear fascia on my '09 Road Glide. I didn't pull the rear tire. I got the painted Rear Fascia
from one of this forum's members, PC PaiN. Jon works through Horny Toad HD and will give the best prices.

Here is the thread that has pictures of my installation. It has a step by step pictorial of the installation and finished pictures. Check it out.

I purchased the Tri-Bar Light Upgrade (68358-07A). It has the Auxiliary Running Light / Brake Light. It has the longer harness and the 3 pin plug that just plugs right into the Tour Pak light plug under the side cover. Now, I do have the detachable Tour Pak. So I made a "Y" plug to be able to still plug the Tour Pak and the Fascia Light at the same time.
