Is your bike an ultra or custom because i believe the shock length is different between the two

Customs have 12" shocks. Ultras have 13".
+1. Either 444 or 944 will work. To retain stock height of your Custom, you would want to go with a 12" 444. As for the 944, it is considered a 13" shock, but is suppose to sag to that of a 12" shock when laden.

Your stock shocks on a 2011 Custom are 12". the 944 are a 13" shock that is supposed to have a static sag of 1" that allows the shock to act like a 12" but most 940 or 944 do not sag that much Im ruunning the 940 and the shock is about 12.5 with the bike on the jiffy stand when set to give me another 1' of sag when Im on it. So it did slightly raise my bike when sitting on the jiffy stand.

if you go 12" 444 you will be exactly the same as your stock set up but you will not get the effect that progressive uses as a selling point for the 944 in a bagger the travel of a 13' with the 12" ride height

There are a lot better and worse shocks out there but IMO for the $ the 940 / 944 are a big improvement over stock and in my case Im happy with them based on my needs and riding style

For a little more $ the JRI or Ohlins that Howard at Motorcycle metal sells are a better over all shock and I think he has some that have the travel of the 944 in a 12' length. There are also the Terry Cable Touring shocks that he makes in a 12' and Ive heard very good reviews he also has a 90 no questions money back return if you dont like them
