Have pretty much decided to put a 17" solid chrome smoothie on the rear and a 21" (unknown type) on the front of my 2015 RGS. I figure it's the most versatile combination so that I can change the front to something else in the future if I so desire. Anyone have any constructive input? My front end is lowered ~1" with internal cartridges and also I have PM fork lowers.

Leaning towards a chrome 52 Fat Spoke Mammoth with black nipples for the front .

Thanks

I was wanting to go this same route myself. I've liked this style setup ever since my 2003 sportster custom, 16'' solid rear, 21'' spoked front. only problem I've found is that a decent smoothie rear wheel is about the same cost as any other rear wheel out there.

Cost is about the same or maybe a little less but the great thing is you can change the front wheel if you ever feel like it w/o spending another $3-4K. Another plus is a solid rear wheel will be much easier to keep clean (or so I'm hoping).

What kind of input are you looking for? In our experience the 17x6.25 on the 2014+ modles is a no go. Had a few customer that had issues with the tire rubbing the saddlebag brackets which sit differently with the new bags. Thus when someone wants a 17x6.25 I tell them to get an 18x5.5 or 16x5.5 as they will not have that problem with either of those.

So, I thnik you should od a 21x3.25 with either an 18x5.5 or 16x5.5

Smoothies are not drastically less expensive than a cut wheel but will save you a little dough and like was stated above, you can change the front without changing the back on down the road should you choose to. Check out our designs and let me know what you like and I can make youa great deal right now.
