Just FYI, not another Redline ass-whip thread! LOL

I had a hard time finding Shockproof Heavy Gear Oil in the local area, but their v-twin tranny fluid with shockproof is readily available.

I emailed Redline to see if these were the same product, and apparently it is.

Here is their response:

"Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, yes the ShockProof Heavy is the same product as the V-Twin Transmission Oil, both the same red color. Cycle Gear should have the V-Twin product.
Regards, Dave
Red Line Oil"

BTW, I have been using the Heavy Gear oil in my tranny since '03.....makes quite a difference.

Harley recommends there syn3 in the trans and that stuff is crap IMO.

I think Redline or any good trans oil is better than syn3.
Personally I run Motul 75-90 just because a friend of mine sells it and its a really good product.

I used to run the Redline Shockproof Heavy gear oil in my 98 Buell. The tranny was real clunky and hard shifting before with the HD fluid. After switching to the Shockproof it shifted butter smooth and ran cooler too!

I usually order the V-Twin pack or whatever they call it from Redline and while I like their product the SPH has never done anything to reduce the noise made by the tranny and I have run in two different bikes. I have no idea what the difference would be but I say the whole reducing tranny / shifting noise is akin to spotting a Chupacabra.

I changed out the SYN3 in the trans & primary and used the Redline products in the primary and trans. The primary fluid looked like ATF fluid and the trans fluid lipe pepto bismal. The 5th gear whine was reduced and the bike shifts a lot smoother. I will continue using these products in my bikes.
