Anyone who has replaced the rear pads with Lyndall pads - my new pads came in today (same stock number front and rear) While the HD manual does not mention putting anything on the back side of tha pads - I've seen that referenced here in various posts about a mask and some kind of goop. So here's my question for those who have installed the Lyndall (Gold) on the rear - did you put something on the back of the pads or not? If you did - what was it?

This items are what I use on the Lyndall pads as well as any other brakes I do.

The disk brake quiet comes in a gel form and may be better suited for this job. Last time I used the spray I accidentally got some on the bottom part of the brake pads where they slide in the caliper, which is where the Anti Seize is used. Well they started squealing because they weren't sliding like they should so I pulled the pads and found where the over spray was on them. Cleaned up the pads, reapplied the disk brake quiet and the anti seize, properly this time, and all is well again.

Another item worth making note of, the anti seize must not get on the surface of the pads.

Brake job is done. Went with disc brake quiet all around. Sure do like have a new pair of shoes. Rear pads where at .05 mm so it was definately time to replace them. Could have easily gone another 5 k on the OEM front pads. 25500 on the bike, mostly one up conservative (most of the time) riding although I've been know to scrap my boards in the twisties once in awhile.

The Lyndall Gold+ pads seem to be the most recommended for large touring bikes. So we'll see how they run.

How to you like the Gold? I have the same pads laying on the work bench.

Like them just fine - seem to have much better grabbing power and a nice feel to them when they engage. But thats with only 150 miles on them. I wouldn't feel comfortable trying to give them a real review without more miles on them in various settings.

I have used nothing but Lyndall pads on my my last bike and this one as well...
every once in a while there will be some discussion on which pads are the best and EBC are thrown in for consideration...
Lyndall are a really nice pad and seems far superior than the HD pads as far as stopping performance and lack of dust...
there customer service is second to none...Great customer service
I personally don't know much about the various compositions of the materials used in the 2 manufactures but have considered trying the EBC and see how they perform especially on the rear with that big tire...
The Lyndall seem to be leaving allot of dust all over the wheel and don't seem the life is very good...One the 150 tire the rear pads lasted quite a while and was practically dust free...
I don't know if they have changed the composition of materials on the rear or its just the nature of the beast...

I put the HD pads back on mine , I have had better luck with the HD pads with Brembo brakes , few bucks less , I change mine at 20,000 whether they need it or not , there's not much material left by then , especially on the rear

Just put on lyndal Z plus recommended by coastal moto for there wheel setup. Bought the pads from them. Do the new pads and rotors need time to break in? I know they sure don't stop as good as the stock wheel, rotor, pad setup did. It's like I have to grab harder to stop.

I would definately give them a 100 mile break in period. That will give everything a chance to seat in and find its happy place. Until then it will seem like the brakes arent working like they should. I tell all my customers that come in for a brake job on their cars to give it about a 100 mile or so to break in before you make any panic stops

Wondering about the fronts with the anti-seize. No disc quiet or anti-seize up front?

Its always a good idea to put something on the pads where they contact anything metal. This will also help stop brake noise. Just dont get anything on the rotors or the pad surfaces. I personally would not use the anti-seize.

I put their Rotors and Pads on mine last winter. The gold pads stop well and produce much less brake dust. Put the Z pads on the wife's Deluxe also.

Got mine from Eastern Performance and paid around $162 for all 3 sets shipped. I have only installed the rear so far and I didn't use anything on them 2k miles of ridind and no noise what so ever and it seems like there is very little braek dust produced. The one thing i did notice is that they didn't have the stopping power or grab at first but they are grabbing just fine now.

I put LRB rotors and pads on my 12 FLTRU back in FEB. No break in required anymore like the old LRB. These pads and rotors are WAY above quality of HD stock. Immediate improvement. DOOF

all in all, in the past 8k miles, I've used about $3 worth of pad, maybe

that's only because I refuse to brake

went kevlar, about $5 a pad and nice quality

I started out at the lyndall site, read all the info, let's me visa card decide

+1 - liberal slathering of proper loctite anti-seize is mandatory

I've done my own brakes for years, the brembo are by far the easiest system ever, based on working on fords and mazdas, had a mechanic work on my evo, so I wouldn't know, if you truely need pads and are low on funds, kevlar can make you smile

or save you a few dollars towards your next mod

only $10 extra for high heat sentered version ( ceramic, I think )

rotor impact adhesion with the kevlar version was about 35% better than stock, based on distance
