I have a stock setup in my 18 RGS, but would like better speakers for clarity at higher volume. What speakers would be a good replacement for the stock speakers. Or would it be just a waste of money?

I realize an amp makes a great difference, but I do not want to go that route. I only listen using the speakers when traveling and want to save my wireless battery on long day trips.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

The Infinity Kappa 62.11i would be your choice with the system being stock and 2 ohms...

It seems the Infinity Kappa 62.11i are no longer available. I checked the auction site and other sites, did not find this model. When I did find the listed model, it showed no longer available. I called Infinity and was told they do not offer that model any longer and did not have a replacement, that is what I was told.

Any suggestions on another good speaker setup for a stock HD setup?

Thanks

If you are sticking with ALL STOCK (no amp) any 6.5" 2 ohm speaker you can find out there should work. Just remember... some of them require lots of power to push them... and just a stock deck may not be enuf.

I would save up and get a good system with 2 speakers and an amp to start and build from there. I offer upgrade to gon in stages.. say your end goal is 4 speakers... start with 2 speakers and amp... save up and add to it later... for example

Spazz makes a great point. Get the amp to push decent speakers, or you will throw good money after bad. Take a look at Arc Audio or Biketronics. I wasted a lot of money replacing speakers, upgrading to Boom 2!, another set of speakers, and then finally Arc Audio MPAK 12 before I was happy.

You don't need to spend a bunch of money to improve the stock audio system x100.......................

Keep your factory 6.5 head unit

Buy NVX VADM2 Amp
https://www.nvx.com/vadm2/

Buy x2 MMATS PA601cx coaxial speakers
https://www.mmatsproaudio.com/site/product/pa601cx/
(spring for the water resistant coating, but you don't need rings or grills)

Buy BT355 Line Out Converter
BT355 HD Radio Line Leveler And Pre-Amp Adapter for 2014 and Up - Biketronics Inc

You can be all in for right around $475 plus the nominal cost of installation parts (figure $40 or less there)

Great advice! And I see you are from FL. If you are anywhere near me over here in the panhandle I can help you install it.

Infinity Kappas are available on Amazon, I am running them with a Diamond Audio amp and they are a great speaker for the money.

That's a viable alternative as well. Absolutely nothing wrong with the Kappas for an entry level system. They drop right in the speaker pods as well, so that's another bonus.

I personally liked the 62.11i better than the new version (62.ix), but the old version is getting hard to find. With that said, the MMATS PA601.cx is a better sounding speaker IMHO.

Post #8 is what you want. Simple, easy, quality sound, and cost effective for a 2 speaker set up.

How hard would this be to install yourself? I have installed stereo equipment before but typically only in cars and it has been probably 15 years.

2020 FLTRK here, a bunch of questions:
1) how would this recommendation change for a 4-speaker setup (I have Tour Pak speakers of course) other than 2 more speakers?
2) Does this setup work with stock hand controls?
3) Where does the amp go? I've had my outer fairing off a few times for installing other accessories, not seeing any room for an amp.

TIA!

1) You would of course need 4 of these speakers and a four channel amp. I use the MMats 4110 but the Stinger 700/4 is highly recommend too. You will also need the Biketronics BTBOC For your bike. You will also need the VTwin Audio tour pack adaptors to fit these speakers in your tour pack.
2) Yes your hand controls will work just like they do now.
3) Most people, including me, mount the amp on top of the headlight with Velcro.

As you can see, the cost goes up quit a bit for this set up with four speakers in an Ultra.
