How hard is it to take the outer fairing off? I want to replace the rubber "nuts" with something a little better such as the dash clips used in cars; and line up my weather stripping/ seal on the outer edge. I haven't purchased an owners manual or service manual yet. Thanks in advance.

Its easy to take off, a little more difficult to reinstall but still not hard. Remove the headlight bucket while the fairing is off. That makes it much more easy to install. Look at the posts talking about changing speakers and you will see lots of posts about this.

Thanks for the quick reply SKULLZ, of course after I posted I found some threads on the subject. No info on using a different "nut" yet though. I think the rubber nut thing that is installed is prone to failure. I will check with the local shop on replacements though if that is my only option.

here's a link to the video on how to remove/replace the fairing. also put the fairing on first and the lights in afterwards, it helps you see the two mounting hangers and get the fairing on faster.
