I had to make a tough decision, although as someone once told me it was a "Delicious Dilemma". I picked up a couple of softails a few weeks ago. An '02 because I wanted a second bike for me that my oldest son could ride sometimes with us, and a '96 for my youngest boy to ride because the vstar just didn't fit him. Well in addition to them both wanting to do some family rides, an opportunity for free lodging came up for us through my in laws vacation club. They had some points about to expire and they couldn't use. Well there was a week available in Hollister, Missouri in the middle of August. Now comes the dilemma part. I don't have enough vacation to do Shark Week and a family vacation. It would have been a financial stretch as well, but that can always be worked out. Anyway, since my boys are getting older (21 and 17, almost 22 and 18), and not knowing if they will ever want to vacation with us again I jumped on the opportunity and won't be doing shark week.

So, we will be loading the trailer with the three bikes and spending 8 days and 7 nights in the Hollister area in the middle of August. I already have Eureka Springs on the destination list, looking for other day trip suggestions from people who are familiar with the area. I appreciate any ideas and advice.

I would look at the spring BBQ routes that we did based out of eureka springs. If I remember right, we did about 200 miles the first day which took about 6.5 hours and the second day was closer to 300 miles and 9 hours or so. All of the routes we took were awesome. I will see if I can dig up the link.

You may already have the eureka springs area covered , but a few years ago we stayed at the Edelweiss Inn - Eureka Springs, Arkansas a very biker friendly establishment by the way. Their website has bike route maps on it. We rode a couple of their routes and also used the GPS to pick a few of our own. You can't really go wrong either way. This is a link to their maps.

Gotta love a joint that goes to the effort for our crowd - Nice find

Bleachey,

You're excused from Shark Week. Family first. Have fun, ride safe and be sure to take a ton of pictures. Looking forward to your ride report.

Thank you!!! Believe it or not it was a really tough decision, we even considered dragging the boys to Canada with us. The wife and I were so excited about Shark Week, the Canadian Rockies and meeting so many of the great people here in person. It has been a strange couple of years, but it feels like we are getting things on the right course. I WILL make a shark week. For whatever reasons the past two years it just hasn't been in the cards.
