No...not on Hester. I'm renting a 411cc Royal Enfield Himalayan. I expect to spend 14-15 days riding from Kathmandu, Nepal to the first Mt Everest base camp near the Rogok glacier and meandering back to Nepal. I fly from Texas May 2nd, land May 4th, and hit the trail on May 5th. Tons of logistics to sort out, but I have a few months. My immediate focus is on conditioning for the 17,000' altitude.

Are you going live on any video? Looks like an exciting adventure. Are you riding alone ?

I started digging through my GoPros last week. It's a balance act of having the right gear without being overloaded. I have ot take everything I own off the bike and with me when I sleep. On the Alaskapade, I could leave gear stowed on the bike. In the Outback, we had a support truck. I'm planning to be lean for this trip. As for going live, Internet is hard to find outside Kathmandu and the Chinese block most live traffic. I'm hoping my 2-way satellite messenger will work as well as it did in the Outback.

As for company, the Chinese enforce a rule requiring tourists to have an escort in Tibet. My "fixer" over there can arrange this for me, but I suspect I'll find myself among others using the same escort. This is one reason my schedule is somewhat fluid. I cover some of these details in my blog HERE. I'll be updating as details are sorted out.

Good question. The Everest climbing season starts in May, but the support crews are there in April and will have traveled the roads heavily. The roads into that region are actually pretty good and tend to be clear by April.
