I picked up a set of 09 up rear oem shocks for my 08 road glide, im reading about people changing the oil in them to amsoil shock therapy #10, anyone try this and get results correcting the bottoming on bumps and creating a better ride?

There are a lot of posts on HD Forums about changing the oil and an improvement but after I swapped out mine I played with changing the oil and did not feel any difference. In general the stock shocks are a very old and basic design and the dampening in them is very limited regardless of the oil used. There may be some improvement is that heavier oil may slow the response of the shock (increase dampening).

If you go to Howards page at www.motorcyclemetal.com he used to have a good write up on this as well as a breakdown of the stock shocks so you can see how basic the dampening setup is in them.
