I realize this forum is for Road Glides but a 2000 Road King popped up on a local online 'for sale' site and I was hoping some of you with much more HD experience than I could offer some insight on pros/cons of that year model. Anything in particular to be on the check list? I've always loved the look of the RK and this is a low mileage unit with some bling at a decent price.

The ad didn't say. The owner's wife had posted the ad and didn't know much, going to look this afternoon.

99-01 could have FI or carb I believe. Magnetti-Marelli injection from that era can be a MAJOR headache.

My '01 RG used to be FI. I converted to carb and the bike runs better than it ever did with injection.

Good info, thanks. I'm a little suspicious...ad shows new tires, batt, plugs, fresh oil. 17k miles on a 2000 model.....garage queen.

Well, that was a short lived pursuit. Talked to the lady, she gave me the address and we agreed upon a time for me to show up. I arrive, no one home. Call, no answer. I did see 2 covered bikes on a side patio, one resembling the outline of a RK. Run a few errands while in town and call several times, still no answer. Later that evening, get a call from the owner. He doesn't know if it's carbed or FI but the 05' RK he had was FI. I had asked if he knew if the cam bearings had been replaced and he gets weird wondering how I would know if that bike needed any work. I try to explain it was a HD warranty issue and he states he got zero paperwork from his cousin from Houston, the original owner. Okay, still somewhat interested and will call early in the week. Get online later that night and see that he has posted and claims his wife had an error in the ad and it was 1000.00 more than she had posted. Might be a decent deal still but I believe I'll pass.

Hea, maybe better not to presume... Let them sell it to you(sorta speak) , then if it's what you want (not can't do without), manage the details (don't bragg on any of knowledge), it's yours when you get the tittle, good luck
