Looking to take a trip during the summer to visit a friend in the Orlando area. Wouldn't mind taking a scenic route down.

Any suggestions from you guys that have made the trip to Florida from the NE? Roads/highways to avoid? Things to watch out for? etc?

Thanks in advance.

Blue Ridge Parkway.

Really, it depends on how many miles you are willing to ride to get there.

You could head west first and then south, or south along the coast, do the tunnel /bridge across the bay, then work your way west to the mountains.

Or stay along the coast and ride the outer banks.

Personally, I would not want to go to Orlando in the summer. Used to live there and worked out doors. Oppressive heat and humidity.

I would stick to the mountain tops during the summer months.

Florida is generally not my thing. But he is a good friend I haven't seen in a couple of years. I didn't think about heading inland much. I wouldn't mind seeing the Outer Banks again. What a beautiful area.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Definitely but I would recommend adding Skyline Drive! I did a Daytona ride and a Tail of the Dragon with detours through Skyline and the Blue Ridge. IMO those two roads were the best part of those rides!
