Going to be adding covers to my bag lids but wanted to ask for owner's inputs before I pick a brand. I've found similar stuff from HD, Kuryakyn, Saddlemen, and Mustang.

Do you have these, and if so what's the fit like? I want some that will stay tight on the lids and not end up looking like a cheap car bra from the 80s.

Thanks for your help.

I purchased the Harley Davidson Saddlebag covers. I got frustrated with them and I don't use them. I went to Pep Boys and bought a $35.00 Black and Decker orbital polisher and some paste wax. Whenever I get a scuff mark I just buff it away.... I can also use it on the rest of my bike and my car.

My Roadie came with some (bought it used, so no idea what brand they were) When I pulled them off, I freaked. It took me several hours with buffer to carefully remove the scratchy haze that they caused. I use them now to kneel on when I'm working on the bike in the driveway :p

I have some of the Ride Tek Lid Haulers that I used for a number of years only when taking a trip or when my wife or daughter rode with me. I ended up using them as a pattern for a new leather set that I made and I put a heavy duty felt under the leather to protect my saddlebag lids. They are now on my RK only when I have a passenger because of my custom paint. Every once in awhile I even drag a toe across the lid and then it's wax and a buffer.

Good Info

I really do appreciate all the input. Sounds like covers are more trouble than help in keeping paint looking good. I like the buffer idea, been meaning to get one anyway so this is a good excuse to do it. Save money and a lot of headache too.

Thanks again for the help.

I installed them in temps below 35degs outside a month ago and have one wrinkle on the right lid cover (see pix), the left side is perfect. When I get a chance I might take a hair dryer to the right one to smooth it out. For $59 they do the job very well. If I did it over I'd leave the bike and covers in the hot summer sun for a few mins then put them on.

I use the saddlebag lid rails to protect the top of my saddlebag lids , They work fine you can still see the paint and protect the lid at the same time . There are 3 mounting points on the rails so all you have to do is take off the nuts that inside the lid to remove the rails for buffing . Also the rails are a great place to bungee down a sleeping bag or tent .

I have the HD covers. My wife can't manage to keep her boot heels off the lids when she dismounts. They aren't the greatest fit, but they do the job protecting the paint.

If you clean and wax your lids well before you put them on the paint will hold up. If you don't there will be dulling and small scratches as the dust builds up around and under them.
