Greetings all,

Thank you for your patience with me during my quest for knowledge while I continue to do research . Hopefully, when I'm done, all Rushmore touring bikers (non air-shocks) will be better informed and better prepared to keep their rides handling like a champ.

I already got some of this data but my sample size is to small to be conclusive.

I need information from Rushmore spring shock owners whose shocks are adjustable only on one side.

To whom it applies, when your saddlebags happen to be off, please measure your shocks and post here the difference in length between sides, if there is one.

Use whatever technique to measure that you feel comfortable with. Attached is a pic of a home grown tool I use which is a simple length of wire hanger with a tie wrap on it. Pick a spot, top and bottom on one shock, and move tie wrap to set length, then just move tool to other side to see if it is the same,(obviously in the same spots). There probably will be a difference and what that difference is, is what I’m interested in. Also need to know how many miles on your shocks and if possible the typical weight on board. Would love to hear from a few peeps with a brand new bikes too.

Me, for example, I have an ’16 RGS. I ride two-up 85% of the time and have 18k on the clock.

My differential length between shocks was 9/32” at 18K with 380# typically on board.

Ultimately, this data will help all of our community that still has those shocks. I myself have moved on to Ohlins…'ass butter' as someone once wrote!

Butt :smile: it was coined (and commented on a lot) on one of the longer threads regarding Ohlins...in the history. Hellofa marketing theme ...


PS James, if applicable, what are your numbers?
