I saw Sancho's post about the deflecters he was making Here and thought it was something cool and might really work well. I was lucky enough to be able to test out the newest design he has made and here are is my experience with them and review.

Initial thoughts
These were delivered in a bubble mailer envelope, and were packed very good. Even though these are pretty self explanatory, it was nice to see instructions included. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the detail, and how good these look and are high quality. The new style is contoured to the fairing, painted along the edge that sits against the fairing, and most of all does no damage to the fairing if installed. The tops of them are also shaped to kick the wind out a little further, which was nice to see. It comes with longer fairing screws for the bottom mount, then emblem tape on the top part to attach to the fairing. The instructions were straight forward and very clear so install was a breeze and took all of 3-4 minutes. The wings compliment the bike, and are not ugly or change the sexy lines of the sharknose fairing. They really look nice installed.

The road test
Right away I could tell the difference with having the wings on. With the hogg chopps and the bottom of the fairing, I would always get a straight shot of wind right at my knees. With the wings on, the wind is totally eliminated and pushed out around me and I no longer have any wind hitting my knees. It also gave me a completely windless pocket of air that I now ride in. There is no buffeting effect at all anywhere on my body, and the wings did not add any extra wind noise like some windshields and deflectors can do. The wings are awesome at how well they work, and it is so nice to finally have a wind free zone to sit in.

Conclusion
Over all, I am very pleased and very happy with Sanchos Wings. These will not be coming off my bike, as I have fallen in love with just how well they work. Sancho has a winner with the wings, and Im excited for him to get more out there to people, so they can see how well they work.

Here are a couple of pictures of them installed on my bike.

Thanks for the review and for Sanchos thought process and building these. It's great to see innovation of this type coming from this forum.

I'm just wondering if the next version of this could be something like the product Freedom Wings (for batwings), where the wing is actually able to pivot and provide various amounts of air depending on how open you had the wing. I found these a great addition, at least for the batwing, as it stabilized the front end at high speeds as well as diverted air.

Just a thought.

Thanks again Sancho and Chain for the write up!!

Wow! Thanks for that review Chainsaw! I've had a set on my bike for a couple weeks now and like them but had no idea. I've tested them up to 95 MPH (not my normal riding speed). After buying the MOCO's latest deflector and being disappointed I got aggravated and made something I thought would do the trick. For me they do exactly what I thought they would do and didn't look bad but wasn't sure what other folks would think of them. It takes about an hour to make a set and I think I might have lost a couple lbs. working in my garage with a 105 heat index.
I'm going to offer these on Ebay $34.95 plus $5.00 shipping. Forum members can get them for $29.95 plus free priority mail shipping (continental U.S. only). The only way forum members can get the deal is by depositing $29.95 in my paypal account
([email protected]) then sending me a pm with your name and address.
I won't be making these until I get requests but can have ready for shipment by Monday.
Also will give full refund if your not 100% satisfied. You pay return shipping.

Great post and product!

I need to look at the pics closer as I have n 09 with non-vented HD lowers and they are already very close to each other. Not sure if it will hit the lower or not. I might give them a try. If so, I'll be PMing you Sancho!

GR8FLHs review of Sanchos Wings

Got the wings last night and had a little chance to test them out.
Sancho told me i should give my review to you all publicly, so he knows what Im about to say here.
I could have used a picture of which way these deflectors are to be mounted and dont have a computer at home to get logged on here and look at the pix. I went back and forth a few times trying to decide which way they needed to go on. im terrible at directions and do much better with pictures. The instructions didnt mention which way was up, which way down, left or Right side.
It could be different for me as I sit lower, and closer to the fairing with a Reach Seat, but most of the wind is at my knees and comes from the bottom part of the fairing and then to my chest and face, so I was confused as these taper toward the bottom part of the faring, so the least amount of coverage where I feel it is needed most.( I had an earlier prototype, that were a little different from Chainsaws.

i wasnt sure why they were painted black on the inside lip. Perhaps so you can line them up with the outer edge of the inside of the fairing. Sancho says he tried without paint and didnt like how they looked, so its painted to blend in with the inner fairing. So if you have a painted inner fairing i would request these clear) If you look at Chainsaws photo of them being mounted, he did not line the black painted part, and just a bit of the deflector is tucked under the glove box at the hinge. Mine lined up ok, but the bend Sancho added to follow the contour of the fairing was not very precise, and the automotive sticky tape would not touch any part of the inside fairing until I really pressed it on.( Sancho bends these by hand with heat so its not gonna be perfect.) The automotive tape stuck great to the inside of the fairing, but because it was attached to the black painted side, the tape peeled right off of the deflector.
Next thing is the screw, because of the angle the screw needed to go in, it was hard to not want to screw it down just a little more for fear it wouldnt hold, and as you know, causes the deflector to bend back away from the fairing. Also i thought the screw looked a little tacky half screwed in and not sitting flush on the deflector.
Riding i noticed quite a bit of difference!!! Which is the whole point. I didnt try it yet, but those of you that like to puff a Stogey while riding, this may help you too! A lot less wind on my chest and face which was great, but still had a lot of wind on my knees, which Im sure lowers would take care of that.
Summary:So for me they work well, but I think they would work even better if the majority of coverage wasnt at widest top point of the fairing, id want them be tapered at the top and get wider towards the bottom( basically reversed from how they are now, just need to adjust the bend. The instructions need a picture, they dont need black paint, and look a little homemade to me, (no offense Sancho, they are homemade and better than i could ever do)
Not sure I want to keep these on my bike. I know i know I know.. Im a picky bastard! (Its a curse trust me)
i would not discourage any of you from getting these, especially at the forum price he is offering. They do waaaay more for wind buffeting than the new HD part for the same price.
Thanks again for letting me test them out and hope I was of some help to you.

I appreciate the above review and it gives my deflectors a 50% approval rating. Still better than our Presidents.
I can only add that these deflectors do not replace lower fairings. You will still get wind from the knees down.
I thank all of you that have requested a set of these. The response has been much more than expected.
If anyone has second thoughts after reading the above review, shoot me a PM cancelling your order and I'll refund your money. If after receiving the deflectors you are not 100% satisfied, return them to me within 7 days and I'll refund your money in full including postage.
This is only a hobby and not a big money making venture for me.

Agreed.

Patent these quickly...with the name...before the MoCo sees these and does it themselves.

This IS the world-wide interweb....just sayin'.

I agree and it is really strange that HD does not offer anything like those for the shark nose. I was at a dealer yesterday looking at the cutomer bikes out side and looked at the adjustable wings on a batwing and they would just need to change the mounting and shape for us. I think since the batwings are so popular that they get the most attention to things like this but I am hoping that is turning towards us a little now and maybe HD will start coming out with more items for us.

I'll add my .02 as well. Received my Wings today. Installed them in about 10 minutes. I used a heat gun to warm the lower portion so I could fit it a little more closely, although the shape is very close. Once lightly heated they formed perfectly to the inner fairing. I then tried them at 35-40 mph and immediately could feel a huge decrease in the wind swirling around my helmet. I took it onto the freeway at 60 then 70, and man what a difference. You still feel some wind, but not the turbulent, shake your glasses loose, wind like before. I have no lowers and run a 14" WindVest. My bike is now fun to ride at speed. Nice job, Sancho !
