I just put red SE plug wires on my '15 RGS. Now my mech tells me they're known for screwing up the ion sensing knock retard algorithm in the ECM. Ain't researched much yet but it certainly appears to be substantiated several times. Doubt it, but maybe I'll get a refund.

Bullshit!!! The SE wires won't hurt a thing. I run SE wires for years and never had a problem.
The SE wires and stock wires have the same amount of resistance. Take a multimeter and check the resistance both the SE wires and stock wires should read around 5.3 to 5.8 OHMS of resistance.
As long as the bike runs fine don't worry about it.

Yeah, mine seems to run fine and not convince yet that it's a problem. In fact I posted hoping someone would throw up the bullshit flag.

I guess radical impedance differences could effect detonation time detection, but I'm still not believing it.

I keep y'all updated with more bullshit when I visit the shop.

There is some truth to that.
On a TTS master tune you can see it
Even Docs tuning in FL can tell you that.
I have seen it as well it throws bs dtc codes acts like its pinging but its not.
On a Tmax you wont see that it does not use it.

Here's the funny thing SE wires are cheaper then Stock spark plug wires.

Why is that?

Yep he's a TTS guy so that explains it. I was having a hard time thinking this dude was full of crap.

So is there nothing in red better or at least as good than the stock black wires? I can wrap the stocks, I guess but if it's only about looks I don't really care.

If you do some searching you will find a TSB direct from HD that use of the SE wires does in fact create issueson EFI bikes. ION sensor is one code that is common. Stock wires are more than up to the task.

I have used SE wires here as well, without issue, I also like the Fuelmoto wires, just purchased a set of them for my own bike.

Jamie teamed up with Moroso and developed them with ION sensing in mind. A very robust looking ignition cable for sure.

Doc tuned my bike using TTS , I run SE wires , like Frank said they can throw fake codes when tuning , Doc simply put a set of stock wires on and tuned it then put my SE wires back on and it's been fine

You might take a look at these wires Scott, the '14 and up Canbus bikes have super sensitive ION sensing and I believe these wires will be a welcomed addition.

Although birthday candles are essential:)

I called the dealer for a price check on the SE set ($30.00 + tax) and the stock wire set ($17.00 + tax). Worth H-D.

I know this thread is a bit dated but folks are still asking so here's my two cents. I have a 2015 RG with the following upgrades to the engine/exhaust: Fuel moto AC DC stage 1 intake, Fuel Moto Jackpot 2/1/2 Stainless Steel Ceramic Head Pipe, Fuel Moto Jackpot 4" Mufflers.

I bought the following from the dealer in February 2018: 1. SE 10MM PHAT SPARK PLUG WIRES - BLACK P/N - 32303-08A, 2. SE PERFORMANCE SPARK PLUGS - PAIR P/N 31600106.

Before I installed the wires and plugs I checked the BCM for any DTC's. There were two. I cleared them. I installed the wires and plugs, started the engine, let it run for a minute then shut it down. I turned it back on and checked for any BCM DTC's and there were none.

I set up my Fuel Moto PV and ran an Auto Tune. After the Auto Tune was completed I checked the BCM for any DTC's. There were none. The bike runs fine. I can't say that it runs better or the same. I can't tell the difference.

I changed the plugs and wires as per the recommendations in the service manual, Touring Models 2015 H-D Service Manual 99483-15, page 1-11, table 1-4. It only recommends changing the plugs every two years or 30,000 miles which ever comes first, but says nothing about the plug wires. I changed them just because I wanted to.

I guess the bottom line here is that they work fine. For any irregularities in the ion sensing I would have to send Fuel Moto my most recent Auto Tune for them to look at, but I'm not having any issues. The bike does everything well and I am happy. Well, the happy part comes from self medicating, sweet smelling candles and lotion that makes my skin so silky smooth.
