WHO CAN ATTEND SHARK WEEK?

All members of the forum are allowed to bring some guest... either passengers or other Bikers and it does not matter what you ride. If you love to ride and are respectful to others you are welcome to attend.

EVENT CALENDAR/THE RIDES

ALL RIDES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. We will announce when all rides will be finalized.

For those interested HUTMO will lead a ride from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg on July 14th along the Historic Lincoln Highway (Route 30).

JUly 13th and JULY 14 Thursday - Pittsburgh to Gettysburg Group

RIDE LEADER- HUTMO

I am planning on meeting any interested travelers at the Robinson Township Red Roof Inn on Thursday Morning to ride the Lincoln Highway to Gettysburg. We will stop in downtown Pittsburgh (part of the Lincoln Highway) and at the Flight 93 Memorial along the way.

Those interested can stay at a hotel in the Robinson Township area. This is a very safe area with lots of places to eat. On Wednesday Night we can go to the Quaker Steak and Lube to hang out. The Red Roof Inn - Robinson Township on Route 60 is decent and cheap. If you want nicer, there are other choices.

The evening of the 13th I will take whoever comes in on a tour around the city and we will have dinner at the World Famous Primanti Brothers. Sandwiches with cole slaw, french fries... OH so YUMMMMY. Seriously the trip is worth it just to have one of these sandwiches.

http://www.primantibrothers.com/

The plan is for us to leave Pittsburgh on the 14th at 8:30. That will help us avoid traffic. I will do a dry run once it warms up to check traffic in the area and will adjust the time accordingly.

From Robinson Township we will travel the Lincoln Highway to downtown Pittsburgh and and continue Eastward.

JULY 14 Thursday - Early Gettysburg Arrivals

If some early arrivals in Gettysburg want to assemble in Gettysburg for a ride or battle field tours they are free to do do so.

July 14th Thursday - EVENING

Official Welcome/ Flag Dedication Dinner at the Pike Restaurant and Lounge.
Door Prizes given out. (Thanks to forum sponsors for their generosity!!)
Take some time to tour around town and then hang out and have a few.

July 15th Friday
RIDE PLANNER - Battlefield Harley

Up early to York PA for Harley Plant tour. After tour we have plenty of time for a day of riding. The factory does not build bikes on Friday but they are open for tours. Groups over ten need to make reservations. The tours start at 8:30 so we could have the kick stands up in Gettysburg by 7:30AM.

I have set up a BBQ Dinner that will take place at Battlefield Harley Davidson after the Ride on Friday, July 15th.

Friday's ride will take us to the York plant and then on to a nice North Western loop that will take us north along the Susquehana River to Lewisburg. From there will will head west ad then southward back to Gettysburg. Some Highway, some farm lands and some mountains. The ride will take about 6 hours or so. The ride was designed by a salesman at Battlefield Harley.

After the ride we will go to Battlefield Harley Davidson around 5:30 for a BBQ catered dinner. The dealership has a very large pavilion that we have reserved for this event. Plenty of time to eat and shop!

Dinner Menu
Buffet Dinner (two lines) with an Attendant
BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork BBQ,
Roasted Redskin Potatoes
Baked Beans,
Cole Slaw, Pasta Salad
Kaiser Rolls
Cookies, Brownies, Fruit cups
tea, lemonade)

LET US KNOW IF THERE IS A SPECIAL DIETARY NEED... They will do what they need to do for you.

Price - 18.00 Per Person
(all inclusive) They take care of everything. We show up and eat.

PRIOR TO THE WEEKEND I WILL PERSONALLY EMAIL ALL OF THOSE ON OUR LIST FOR CONFIRMATION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT YOU WILL PARTICIPATE.

The Shark Week Packet that will be out in early July will have a signup form that you can bring with you to Shark Week.

NOTE: Battlefield Harley Davidson has a strict no alcohol policy. (save it till later )

July 16 Saturday
RIDE PLANNER - TBD

Saturday's Ride will take us on the DC Memorials Tour to visit all of the major memorials and a few obscure ones too. Possible lunch at HD of Washington DC with catering by "The Smoke Shack"

I'm in !

Yay...I'll be booking my room soon but i'll find something like a more traditional mom and pop kinda place. i (we) like to have my (our) bike(s) outside my window and sit on a lawn chair with a cold one while enjoying a cigar. They'll be two maybe three of us coming from Ontario.

Thanks Chris for finding us a meeting place. I'm sure it was alot of work and its appreciated. I will be in Gettysburg for the rally no doubt but have to find a more economical place.

Looking forward to the rally.:D:D:D
See ya there!!!!

Can't wait

I will be there. I'm planning on leaving from Quebec on the 9th of July and pass through 5 or 6 states on a slow East Coast cruise down to PA.
Anyone interested in joining up, can email me at [email protected].
I'll be going through NY-VT-NH-MA-DE then onto PA for the meet.
Hotrodad....you know, you should really try and stay at the same place with us. We can all bring our lawn chairs and drink cold ones with you by our rides. It be ashame to spread out. You could always save some $$$ by cutting down on the Drink till July...you'll loose weight and save some big $$$...lol
Look forward to seeing you all.

booking at the eisenhower

Hutmo
I think you did a great job sourcing for a decent motel all around. I spent the afternoon looking at what is available and there are lots to choose from BUT there are lots of dumpy looking joints. When I read customer reviews and descriptions of dirty beds, cheap bedding, :(outdated rooms and mould:eek: etc! It looks like you picked one of the better places. Do you know if they have ground floor rooms available and if we would be lumped together as a group?

This is gonna be fun....now where's my cooler?

Is there a restaurant/bar near by?

I've registered at the DaysInn on York road for about $100 cheaper than the Eisanhower. Its 1 mile from the traffic circle downtown and only 2 1/2 miles to Battlefield HarleyDavidson. I see there is also a leather wear shop for bikers and indy shop near by as well. Of course lots to see eat and do nearby!

Who's riding from Ontario? Leaving early Thursday morning with a few riders. If you want to meet up PM me.
Cheers!

Okay, the trip is on the calendar; leaving July 13th from Central Illinois. Can meet up with anyone coming from the west on I-70 in Indy (or just east of Indy @ a Rest Area) on the 13th - then ride to Columbus, OH. (stay overnite). Then on the 14th ride into Gettysburg (350m). Could all change if the 'fender bunny' doesn't want to go with. Or can meet early morning in Columbus on the 14th. :)

Or

D) None of the above.

Consider making it to Pittsburgh and riding in on the 14th on the Lincoln Highway from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg.
