Looking forward to Shark Week VI in Canada, and a friend has already started looking at routes and lodging. Good news is that the weather should be good then; bad news is, at least what I am seeing online, is that lodging around Canemore is loading up already, and lodging in northern Montana is very tight within 200 miles of the border. Seems strange for a date more than a year out.

Not to worry. Your Canada crew is negotiating and will soon be locking down the final venue details for the 2016 SharkweekVI in Canmore Alberta CANADA! This will be the year our rally goes to international status. Also soon to come will be SWIV swag for the event as well. Some very exciting products and designs will become available soon!

I thought they had the lodging problem addressed when they made the proposal, is this going to be a problem along with the money issues?

I just tried plugging in dates in 3 different motel websites,Priceline, Expedia etc, none of them will even show you anything past the first week of June 2016.

I hold my trust in Troy, I'm sure this has been well researched and thought out. I seriously doubt there will be an issue.

If not, I call dibs on his guest bedroom.......

+1 a little early to be worrying about all that crap. The Canadians will make a great event and all will be fine. Just like in Texas at the In of the Hills, normally it books up full the time of year we were there. Our Texas bunch took care of business and all was great. Now, I'm already ready for SWVI to be here. Bring it on.

Good News, Good News

Host Hotel/Casino has been confirmed. Info for booking rooms will be on a new thread starting next week.

Foreign Exchange!!. The Canadian dollar took another hit yesterday in world trading markets. This now means that 1$ US is now worth 1.29$ Cdn. What does that mean? It means your dollar goes farther which is very good.

Current cost for premium fuel in Calgary 1.159 $Cdn/liter. 3.78L in an american gallon. 3.78 x 1.159 = 4.38$ x ..7743 = 3.39$ U.S./us gal

The economic forecaster that I follow has the Canadian dollar staying in this range well into 2017. That means the U.S. dollar will go farther until the Canadian economy picks up again. Essentially we are a producer of raw materials. Oil, Lumber, Pulp, Ore for Iron, Nickel, Gold, Silver, Uranium and ag products like Wheat, Canola and beef. The bulk of all of these material are processed off shore. That makes our industrial economy weak as demand for all those raw products right now is low.

The low Canadian dollar does encourage tourism to our country and especially to Alberta. When our dollar is low against the U.S. and the Euro that means that tourist traffic from those countries will rise up. Excellent for our tourism trade in hotel sales, restaurant sales, tour industry stuff like horse back riding in the mountains, white water rafting and of course that four letter word from Scotland......golf.

Toques. The apparel committee is working on this and a few other "Canadian" items we think you will enjoy.

Fun stuff. Start practicing your wrist shot and slap shot for hockey, prizes for accuracy and speed, using real sticks and real pucks. I will be putting on the pads and mask for a fund raiser shootout, 1$ (Loonie) per shot, shoot as hard as you can as many times as you want. Canadian shooters will pay 2$ (Twoonie) per shot, as i expect all of them will be gunning for either just below the belt or my head to "establish their presence with authority" All money raised will go to the local charity supported by SW 6 in Canada.

Thanks guys. I have a "worry wart" in my group who is trying to baseline everything and we are trying to rein them in. I figure the Canadian Sharks have got this well in hand, and I am just going to sit back and wait for it to be put in place. Might just get them to worry about all the border crossing issues, real and imagined.
