Shifter shaft spacer

I would not use a shifter rubber there on my bike. I'm far too anal retentive for that but it looks like it does the trick for you. Good solution utilizing a bit of recycling.
I am pretty anal about mods that I make as well. After researching a bunch of the metal possibilities (Pingle, DK, Kuryakan and others) and reading some other posts reviewing their performance, I decided on the rubber option. Too many negatives about rattling spacers that end up compromising the shifter shaft or improperly installed versions(no nylon washer) that, over time, mill the surface where the spacer meets the primary. I did try to find an aluminum spacer that was splined to fit on the shifter shaft snuggly, but was unsuccessful in locating anything with the same number of teeth on the shifter shaft. Anyway, I'm just okay with the way the rubber looks but it is better than leaving the shifter shaft uncovered after removing the heel shifter.
